Is anyone else attending the UNBELIEVABLE? THE CONFERENCE USA in Portland Friday 08/31/2018 - Saturday 09/01/2018. Unbelievable is the British Christian debate show/podcast. Host Justin Brierley will moderate a conversation between Sean McDowell and Friendly Atheist Hemant Mehta on Friday night.

I'm kinda nervous about attending an event hosted by an anti-LGBTQ evangelical church, but I'm hoping non-Christians turnout for the event too.

I am very curious: how did this discussion work out? Was it equal and respectful, or was it heavily weighted towards the church's perspective?

Geez, just registering for this thing is a trial. "What is the name of your home church?" is a required question. Is there a good way to answer this without lying or soliciting a . Maybe "Church Of The Do Not Me"

It would seem the assumption of "home church" could indicate a heavily weighted discussion, and not necessarily a conversation. Always good to hear ideas that differ from our own, but I would only attend a gathering like this in a neutral setting, with a neutral approach.

I've always enjoyed these things, though quite often the god squad is all over the map.

A debate with Hemant Mehta should be good!

Posted by TO_BYI'm remembering Sam for Memorial Day. He died over this last year. A memorable street-performance artist up here. He originally hailed from Tonga. Big spirited. Loved America.
