I like Tacoma -- my brother lives there and you have Defiance Point which is beautiful. Not to mention the Museum of Glass and other attributes.
There is nothing bad about Tacoma that is not also similarly bad in other cities.
It used to have a reputation as being really low-class, and then there's the smell... Both of those things have improved in recent years, though.
