Another of my crocheted items.

DUCHESSA Level 8 Oct 23, 2018

Nice. Was it intended for something special?

@CeliaVL Yes, is a bag I can use with many shoes (Summer).

@DUCHESSA Good thinking! I like bags to protect my best handbags, but I tend to make them from fabric. I like storing things in bags. I shall look at the possibilities of crochet or knitted bags.

@CeliaVL In fact, I made four bags -almost identical design- for friends.

Upon retiring from teaching I took (Teachers' Learning Center) a class in quilting and another on jewelry. I enjoyed both immensely; I think I will take two more. Presently, I am taking one in Art Collage.

I think classes are a good idea. When I get back to the UK I intend to go to several different classes and groups!

@CeliaVL I am a member of two book clubs, a monthly breakfast one, two knitting groups and next semester I will take two more classes: Economic / Geography II and Forensics II. Two semesters ago I took the first levels.

@DUCHESSA I plan to learn German and take art classes.

@CeliaVL Great....Any language -even German- is OK.

I belong to two Crochet groups. Do you?

DUCHESSA Level 8 Oct 21, 2018

I live in a small and not very friendly town in central Spain. I tried to join the local knitting-crochet group but it is really for people learning to knit-crochet and sadly didn´t really suit me.

@CeliaVL Well, surprises me to hear "not friendly town in Spain). The Spaniards are usually very welcoming. Do you speak the language? I do and every time I visited said country I was welcome with open arms.

@DUCHESSA Spain is very friendly to visitors. They bring money. The family-centred culture is not friendly to alien long-term residents, though. It is not overt hostility to foreigners but simply cultural differences. We are on day-to-day speaking terms with much of the town but our friends are an assortment of fellow-foreigners.

@CeliaVL I am Argentinian; I guess the fact I speak Spanish makes the difference...or, also a fact, that whenever somebody is nasty to me I tell him/her to go wash his/her a$$hole.

I really like the wool basket - ir´s an attractive way to disguise a boring pot. I shall use that!

@CeliaVL I did covers for "boring pots"...I will posted them later.

@CeliaVL Here is the "pot disguiser"

@DUCHESSA Nice. Do you use a pattern or make it up to suit your pots?

@CeliaVL To suit my pots.

Here is a photo of the simple jacket I have just finished. And also the feather and fan scarf I am making in a beautiful soft, slightly sparkly yarn.

I've been crocheting the Liza Pullover, by Yuliya Tkacheva. Progress is slow right now, but I may have a sweater in the next year or so. 😀

That's nice. It looks as if you end up with quite a dense fabric which should hold its shape. I'm just finishing the sewing up on my current jacket, so I'll probably put up a photo later today.
