Crochet Mandala
I struggle with so many little balls of leftover yarn...I found a bunch of these on Pinterest so I am going to make some for friends to use as mats or wall hangings...anybody else try these? They are fun, simple and can be made with all sorts of yarn.

lol I laugh that what my granny used to call a doily is now called a mandala...I use them as doilies...
I struggle with using left over sock yarn...I have made little gift bags and very odd socks...I also use the leftovers for cuffs or toes of future socks...but it means buying more yarn!!! The cycle never ends...ha ha ha

It's a self-perpetuating cycle for sure! Sometimes I swear the yarn multiplies on its own.
@sc62 I try to keep my yarn in the light...I think when I put them in the closet, they do multiply...ha ha ha
I have the same problem with leftovers and usually end up knitting ot crocheting them into charity blankets. I like those mandalas - I think I shall try some when I have finished one of my current projects. Thanks for the suggestion!

The picture looks huge but they are really only as big as a small plant pot...I have this one with a Kleenex box on it and another that I set a jar of pencils on...they can be as large or small as you like and so many fun stitches!
@thinktwice I suppose you could make them in a range of sizes. I'm wondering whetherixed fibre textures would work? Not for mats maybe, but for a decorative object.
@CeliaVL I made one from macrame cord I had left...it gives it a natural feel but it hard on the hands to crochet...I made it about 16 inches across...I tied it to a metal macrame hoop that I found as well...I have also attached them to embroidery hoops...
@thinktwice Good thinking - I have got a few of those hoops somewhere.
