Staying here at my parents’, who are omnis, I have come to realize that I eat like a bird. I eat seeds, nuts, grains. LOL. I eat some random tofu with a few veggies, sliced cucumber. I packed some granola cereal and energy bars, some chickpea and pea snacks, from home just in case there’s nothing to eat. For a few days that would have to do. I will be glad to be home tomorrow night. FYI my mom would have a cow (ok not literally) if I use her kitchen to cook anything.

Is she afraid you will smell it up with vegie's?

She just never likes anyone else invading her kitchen.

I used to pour some raw sunflower seeds into my pocket before going to a party, bc I knew there would be absolutely nothing there I eat. It sounds like you eat just like me. I have a cover over my stove top and have unplugged the oven. I am SO HAPPY that there is no meat cooked in my home (now that I live alone). I always pack what I eat to prep for travel. Stopping at an IHOP only means nabbing one of their 'made-to-last-forever' forks or spoons and using the bathroom, while everyone else eats a plate of slop.

I have a reaction to Sunflower seeds and a few other foods. However, many people around here are vegetarian/vegan and several are gluten free. This area is very progressive. All the farms are small and most are organic. Yes, it is an island but with a very urban air. I moved here from Seattle because it had a sense of community that was lacking in that city. Not regretted it for one minute.
