I try and have fun everywhere I go. I'm happy at a museum, a rave, a concert, camping, binge watching Netflix/Hulu, or 100ft underwater.
Animals are a big part of my life. I grew up in a house full of exotics (e.g. spider monkey, reticulated python, coati mundi), and have owned a few of my own (skunk, snakes, lizards, tarantulas, turtles). I also owned a couple of horses (Paso Fino, AQHA "Foundation" Quarter Horse). For many years I did dog rescues, concentrating on giant dogs (>100lbs). They are the least adopted, and deserve to be loved. I also concentrated on BBDs (Big Black Dogs) - the least adopted dog type there is.
I have one dog now (Buster), and I'll probably be adding a second very soon (wanna help me pick him out? )
I'm a Liberal, an Atheist, Humanist, and UU. I do not suffer fools lightly. I have a great disdain for willful stupidity (like most Trumpers).
I'm dipping my toe in the dating pool after 32 years of marriage. I'm not actively looking for any long term commitment, but I won't fight it if it happens. I'm willing to try almost anything - just ask! I just want to meet other "heathens" who are open - open minded, open to adventure, open to new experiences, and open to life & whatever it may bring.
This was taken on 02 NOV 2018 with my youngest daughter, Robin. We had a daddy/daughter date and went and saw her favorite bands in the world, Twenty One Pilots, when they played Atlanta. And if course I we dressed for it. ? She's now a sophomore at Brenau University on a full ride academic scholarship, majoring in English and Journalism ( dual majors ).
I used to speak at developer/technical conferences all over N America and Europe a few years ago. I would typically do 2-3 here, then 2-3 abroad. I had my own business & blog, so I made sure that my url was displayed prominently the whole time I was on stage.
But I was already a vocal atheist, so I had to make sure I displayed that ,too. :)
This is my eldest son and me, about to go out in our first father/son ride through the North GA mountains. I've been riding my whole life, and got my bike license when I was 16. Then I had deja Vu all over again (thanks to Yogi Berra ?) - when he turned 16 he wanted one, too. This is about 4 years old, but it was still a great moment for me.
My old bike, a 1997 Honda Shadow Spirit VT1100. I put over 35K miles on her. I just gave her to my son, as he has been wanting a cruiser to take his GF out for rides, and since I was moving around I just gave it to him (he's had his bike license since he was 16.
These are of the greatest dog and best friend I ever had - Buddy. When I found him he was so malnourished that he could only walk a few steps at a time. He was already at about his full height then, but only weighed 35lbs. It was touch and go for awhile, but I nursed him back to health. Once he was back at full weight he weighed 140lbs. I found him near some land fills, and initially he was terrified of all adults. I think the guys at the land fills were throwing rocks and taking pot shots at him. At the time I had my own business and worked from home, so we worked together to rebuild his trust. Every day we'd go to PetSmart for resocialization, because if there's any place where you're guaranteed to find a bunch of dog lovers, it's there. The staff feel in love with him, and always had tears for him. In no time he regained his trust, and from then on he never meet sometime he didn't like.
This is Buster, my roomie ? We had rescue dogs for years up to six at a time, and all large/giant size dogs. Here's the smallest I've ever had at 60lbs.
