I was born in the country on a small farm. As a child, I played in creeks and climbed trees, chased butterflies through sunny open fields, caught lightning bugs on warm summer nights and gazed at the stars. This gave me my love of nature as well as camping, hiking and swimming in the nearby Mohican State Park as a young boy. Always the introvert, there was always a spiritual awareness as well as a connection to the earth from a very young age. No Gods!
In my twenties, I was very politically aware and an am an old hippie by nature and very Progressive (Liberal) politically. In my spare time, I studied Native American religions and Eastern philosophy, Zen and World and American History.
I'm an ordained Lay Zen Buddhist but Zen has nothing to do with God. And we do not worship the Buddha.
I always wanted to be an Old West Reenactor. l have (most) of the clothes and accouterments. My persona's name is "Montana Mike". I'm a cowboy who is more a history buff than the stereotypical Mr. Macho. I enjoy the romance of the old west, not the blood and guts. Not a country music fan. Well, maybe some country rock like the old "Eagles" or some of the old traditional cowboy music. I'm not a fan of sports or motorcycles. I think I have better ways of spending my time. I love reading and research and separating fact from fiction. Much of the West was fictionalized over the last 100 years. I like doing the research and getting to the truth about the people and places. The real facts are usually much more interesting and have a way of humanizing the larger than life myths. My website is: www.montanamikeusscout.com/
I'm also a movie buff and like to watch and collect movies. They shot The Shaw -Shank Redemption here in my hometown. I love a good Western and all the famous directors like "John Ford". I have too many favorites films. To have to list just one would be a crime. You can find me watching Turner Classic Movies most nights. My taste in movies is very eclectic.
I'm most definitely a cat person but like dogs and all animals. I love music and listen to Rock, Blues, and Jazz. My favorite internet radio station is 3WK classic underground rock, from the late 60's to the early 70's. The more obscure the group or the song, the better.
Some traveling would be nice. I like the desert south-west and would like to visit there again or move there someday. The Grand Cayon was amazing! I fell in love with the Sonoran Desert when I visited there as a young man.
My fathers side of my family is from central Italy and I would love to go there and maybe check out my relatives someday.
I appreciate brains and beauty. I like women in jeans, not dresses. But I do enjoy a woman's legs, so dresses aren't completely out of the question. LOL
I know long distance romances are hard. But I see far too many women on other sites that think a miracle will happen and they are going to find Mr. Right standing right next to them. Waiting for the perfect situation, or the perfect man, to suddenly appear right in your own backyard? Some people need to be more realistic. Especially in small towns.
If someone really wants to meet they'll find a way,
and they'll make the effort.
I'm willing to move. Mansfield is my hometown but I'm not married to it.
