I assume you mean AR-15 styled weapons when you say ‘assault weapons’. If so, I believe that you should need a license to own one. They aren’t well suited for hunting or home defense. They are well suited fighting a tyrannical government
indirect76 replies on Apr 26, 2018:
@dare2dream License assault rifles for fighting a tyrannical government. I’ll just concede your point that they are no match. I don’t see how that is an argument to ban them. To me it supports the idea of allowing more deadly weapons like the M16 or AK-47.

Reincarnation or DNA Memory?

@Cheri That sounds plausible. Passing down actual memories from a brain to DNA to offspring doesn’t.
Reincarnation or DNA Memory?
bigpawbullets comments on Apr 25, 2018:
Interesting question. Humans apparently do have some form of genetic memory... a fear of snakes, and/or spiders is apparently, part of our collective memory. So, why not other memories of a more specific nature?
indirect76 replies on Apr 25, 2018:
These are evolved traits, not really memories. Cats have agoraphobic (fear of open spaces) tendencies not because an ancient cat saw a bird kill another cat. It’s because one cat happened to be agoraphobic, not get killed by large birds, and pass her genes on.

The theory of evolution just doesn’t compare.

Reasonable but wrong?
PickledRick comments on Apr 9, 2018:
Not to put FDR down but I always thought, "..the only thing we have to fear is fear itself " was a bit odd.
indirect76 replies on Apr 9, 2018:
This quote has always been interpreted in a much wider scope than it’s intended context. The context being the economy and the Great Depression. People were hoarding the little money they had and not investing in business or buying goods & services. This collective fear was one things preventing the economy from recovering.

@Scotttheshot True, indicas are more mellow, but I still don’t like the way I feel on them, paranoia or not.

Crazy. Weed gives me anxiety when I do it these days, but I’m glad it has positive effects for you.
How many others reached a point like myself, where they cannot or will not date a god believer?
indirect76 comments on Apr 8, 2018:
I have no problem being with a religious person, so long as they are fine with my lack of religion.
indirect76 replies on Apr 9, 2018:
@MichaelSpinler I don’t have a religious line. I can easily imagine a person that believes these silly notions, but is still fun to be around and perfectly lovable. Does such a person exist? Who knows.
Texas Bill Prohibiting Male Masturbation Moves Closer To Becoming Law
indirect76 comments on Apr 9, 2018:
A lot of people comment without reading the linked article, making their comment fairly irrelevant. I like the statement that the proposed law is trying to say. Though, I don’t think proposing legislation is a proper way to say something, especially when, as demonstrated in this thread, lots of...

Tract on Agnosticism
indirect76 comments on Apr 8, 2018:
I don’t know how one would even go about ‘proving’ agnosticism. The whole idea seems flawed to me. It’s such a broad concept because there are so many definitions of what a god is. The pastebin is a very long winded logical analysis and I think the author is trying to prove antitheism. ...

@DZhukovin Perhaps it’s a problem with language?

@DZhukovin That’s just it though. Atheism/agnosticism isn’t trying to prove or disprove anything. Leave that to the theist and antitheists.
What's your critique for commoners trying to understand 4D space-time?

What on earth, or who on earth, are commoners?

I believe they are the people without royal blood.

RobLes comments on Apr 8, 2018:
Today a young man on acid realized that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, that we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves. Heres Tom with the Weather. - Bill ...

Do animals have "souls"
Donto101 comments on Apr 8, 2018:
We don’t have souls. There is energy in all living things including plants. But not souls.
indirect76 replies on Apr 8, 2018:
There’s energy in everything, even empty space.
We are now more than ever in a censored society, is that a good thing or bad?
indirect76 comments on Apr 7, 2018:
I don’t agree with the premise. We’ve never lived in a time when it was so easy and free to communicate. For the sake of argument, I think censorship is generally bad.
indirect76 replies on Apr 7, 2018:
@WilsonLopezJr Legal trouble? I would guess not. Freedom of speech doesn’t mean freedom from consequences.
Is there intelligent life out there in the universe?
indirect76 comments on Apr 4, 2018:
I’ll start speculating on intelligent life out there once it’s discovered on Earth somewhere.

Anyone ever really think about what the Founding Fathers of the United States wanted for this ...
indirect76 comments on Apr 6, 2018:
I don’t take the intentions of the founding fathers as gospel. They had some great ideas and made a great bill of rights. They also wisely put in mechanisms for amendments so that the constitution can change as the times do.
indirect76 replies on Apr 6, 2018:
@Piece2YourPuzzle I don’t think the system inherently favors the rich. The folks with money and power just use their resources to ensure they keep it or gain more. It’s not surprising.

I got to see Pantera open up for Semi-local band Wrathchild America in a small venue. It was just after Cowboys From Hell came out. Good times.
