THANKS, Roger! When/where do you think choral singing was introduced?
pamagain replies on Jan 19, 2024:
@rogerbenham I've always imagined a few early humans, keeping warm by a fire in their cave. One begins humming and then...someone else creates a harmony line...and it's so much fun that it still goes on today.
My son asked, Dad, what is a bubble butt? I showed him this. Was I wrong?

@Lizard_of_Ahaz Are you proposing that every ancient and contemporary building created to honor some form of religion be eliminated? Let me tell you what happened in Russia, when the commies made religion illegal. People practiced it anyway. Even though churches had either been bombed into rubble or converted to ''museums'' (because they were architectural treasures and even the Soviets recognized that)...people kept their faith. I was there 25 years ago and was astonished to see priests and icons and grandparents instructing their kiddies in the appropriate rituals because Yeltzin recognized they couldn't eliminate it....notice that Putin keeps the church going, too....it's useful because it supports him. Something in some human psyches NEEDS to believe in a power. And they'll create offerings of great art to inspire others.

@Lizard_of_Ahaz Absolutely true! pamagain replies on Jan 14, 2024:
@Lizard_of_Ahaz There are some beautiful tombs in Egypt which were desecrated by early christians because they contained meticulously painted images of gods and goddesses. They brutally scraped away the images, thinking it would ''kill'' that religion, (even though it was already dead) and now, the art's gone, too. Should we destroy the images in the caves of Lescaux, the aboriginal ''dream time'' cave art in Australia, the Maya images, etc? It's a challenging question. Buddhists in Nepal (as well as aboriginals in Australia and indigenous people in the US southwest) (that's interesting) make incredibly detailed sand paintings as a form of meditation. They don't have churches/temples but their thinking is expressed internally via a work of art which takes days or hours to create. Would you want to erase those, too? Please know I'm not arguing with you, my friend. I'm just the old woman trying to bar you from the temple, so you won't burn down the frescoes and miss out on the art. :-) :-) :-)

@rogerbenham Although I've always looked down my nose at the content of "barbershop" singing, I found myself at the ''afterglow'' of an event and was pulled into the middle of a quartet by a friend. Hearing that sound surrounding me was something I've never forgotten!

Seriously?? This pustule has a cologne? Sometimes, there just aren't any words.....
pamagain replies on Dec 30, 2023:
@Lizard_of_Ahaz I got the sarcasm, etc, but...in view of his previous business ventures....nothing would surprise me.
How about some offensive content?

@rogerbenham Marionville & I have talked about the joys of choral singing....there's something very powerful about it...harmony singing is very intimate, don't you think?

I've spent most of this day making some (sadly....small) donations to groups I support and ACLU and PFAW are among them. We need them and I'm eternally grateful for what they do.

Her voting record simply can not be forgiven. I wish more people would pay attention to actions, as we see words are so easy to manipulate or alter today.
pamagain replies on Dec 30, 2023:
I'm not talking about her voting record...and neither is she. I'm talking about her genuine perception and courage in her effort to nail the pustule for his actions on Jan. 6th (and before and after.)
"Oath and Honor".

Let's see, she moved to Wyoming for the ease of election (lowest cost per vote of any congressional district in the nation), threw her sister under the bus to get elected, voted with trump 95% of the time, did not break with him until he had been defeated and actually stood up for the rule of law. ...
pamagain replies on Dec 30, 2023:
In standing up for his impeachments, she knowingly lost her elected seat. Playing a leading role in the Jan. 6 panel sealed that loss. As I said...I'm sure she & I would never agree on 99% of political issues...but I absolutely respect her courage in standing against the pustule.
Happy New year All!!!
pamagain comments on Dec 30, 2023:
Glennsie....tell me you mean that in the figurative sense, please? :-)
pamagain replies on Dec 30, 2023:
@glennlab I think you know me well enough by now to be certain that....if I were close enough to the pustule for that particular activity.....I'd shoot him! Yup. I would. Edited to add this: I'm pretty sure that not a court in the land would convict me. :-)
Hahahahaaaa i made Level 7 (again!) so now i can see our Senate postings!!!!!! The New Year is off ...

@annewimsey1 Maybe you don't remember these things. They'd get SOOO dirty, and you couldn't really vacuum them because the shag would wrap itself around the rollers. It felt good to walk on it with bare feet but....that feeling wasn't good enough to keep it!
