Methane, maybe? If it is, that suggests extant life or geothermal activity that might provide conditions to sustain life. Okay, yeah, I'm speculating bigly, but 'tis possible.

@magicwatch -- The link does not take you to an IQ test and the point is simply to alert people that there will be an important announcement coming from NASA tomorrow. How the hell did you come up with an IQ test?
@evidentialist I've had links going somewhere strange. I've then gone back, used the link again and gone to the correct place. I've always assumed I must have accidentally clicked an advertising link on the destination URL somewhere along the line.
Methane can be produced naturally, it's only a combination of one Carbon atom with four hydrogen atoms. An electric spark can trigger it, if there's no free oxygen around.

Quite right, and that was the reason for including the notion that it might indicate geothermal activity. We have no need to worry about igniting it on Mars because almost all the oxygen available is tied up in CO2, water, and stable mineral compounds.
