New host! American Lady caterpillar nests on Echinops, Globe Thistle. The only other host I've seen them on outside the Gnaphaliids is Centaurea.
Both plants closer to Thistles, showing the relationship between American Ladies ( Vanessa virginiensis) and Painted Ladies (Vanessa carduii).
Exciting stuff!
