I do think people who don't have smart phones are at peace with them selves.
I didn't have a smart phone until January 2018. Directionally-impaired, I love the GPS directions.
So many people have their eyes glued to their smart phones. They are missing human connections and the beauty and wonder of the great outdoors.
Last spring walking along the riverfront trail, I felt thrilled when a bald eagle with a six-foot wingspan flew right overhead, swooping down toward the Columbia River beside the trail. I could feel the whoosh of air from its wings. Splash! Without pausing, the eagle snatched a fish from the river and soared upwards, holding the fish in its talons. WOW.
"Did you SEE that eagle?" I called excitedly to people around me. No. They were all staring at their smart phones.
Watching that eagle was a peak, ecstatic moment in my life. I'll never forget it.
We all need more low-level ecstasy in our lives. This is a call to open your eyes, to see and feel the wonder and joy in life.
I recently got rid of my long time use of flip-phones and went smart. It does eliminate the need for a separate GPS map, I don't need to take a camera with me for events, when attending an event no need to carry a paper ticket, easier to text back by voice instead of using a 12 digit button board and I can now catch on video cops abusing peoples civil rights. The bad part is the size, carrying it with you can be a pain at times. Unlimited text and call, 2 GB data, $30 a month.
I enjoy having my small computer, I use it at work and home all the time! I am at Special Olympics this morning with my son and I made an iMovie with my phone and sent it to family that couldn’t be here! I think it’s amazing! I love all the technology I have at my fingertips. I may struggle with being at peace but it’s not because of my smart phone ?
I have a smart phone and am at peace... of course I don't do any social networking, email or Internet on my phone at all, which probably has a lot to do with it... my smart phone doesn't constantly bother/harass me with notifications unlike other people's smart phones.
My phone is a ''flip'' one and people often laugh at it. I tell them I'm just being ''retro COOL" and, surprisingly, a lot of young people tell me they've been thinking of getting one. It makes me crazy to see how many people are absolutely GLUED to their phones....RUDE!
I didn't used to have smart phone. I was perfectly happy with my dumb flip phone.
But then everyone would be on their smart phones, messaging other friends, researching things, buying music, etc. I'd be sitting there just kind of staring into space thinking "I could be on the internet right now instead of being bored and salty"
I understand this very well
So anyone who is not at peace with themselves, for example a serial killer, should throw their smart phone away, they will heal, and no longer kill?
Halleluuuuuuuujah!
He he..
