Does anyone supplement their diet with probiotics? Thoughts?
Yes, but not via supplements. There are lots of regular foods that are probiotic. Sauerkraut, Kimchi, pickles, olives. Anything fermented (not alcohol) or pickled have beneficial biota.
Loaded with salt, the things you list....be aware?
@AnneWimsey Not necessarily. Sauerkraut and Kimchi only have a spoonful for a large batch. Sometimes life's about trade-offs.
@JackPedigo i now have to carefully watch my salt intake......all labels on every type of sauerkraut ( I love sauerkraut!) Indicate a half cup has almost 50% of daily allowed salt amount....that is a Huge problem!
@AnneWimsey Okay, I checked and Bubbies has only 13% of daily amount. I often make my own, it is easy., just a bit of massage work. We once took a class in Lacto-fermentation andstarted making our on. [culturesforhealth.com]
@JackPedigo thanks for the info...i will hope that is a brand in this area....should I be looking for a refrigerated product, or?
@AnneWimsey It is refrigerated and a national brand. I find it in the local co-ops. They have a variety of products.
@JackPedigo thanks!
The fanatic health/diet/foodie people I know say that you need to make your own sauerkraut, kimchi, etc because commercial products will have been processed to kill a lot of the probiotics in order to extend shelf life and make supply logistics easier. They also recommend raw dairy as a probiotic. And to stay away from foods with lots of preservatives because preservatives kill microorganisms, on purpose in your food but consequently in your gut as well.
Yes I use them daily, in different forms. Probiotics are the best thing you can do for your body. 70% of your immune system is in the gut so if it is balanced (good/bad bacteria) your health will benefit. Also there are connections to be made with brain, heart and gut. They all contain neurotransmitters, so it all ties in. Prebiotics are also a helpful addition. They actually feed the good bacteria which in turn enables them to multiply.
I try to eat different food and drink some milk every day. I have always thought that it was enough.
Some people think that they necessarily need to take some additional supplements that are going to help them feel better and be healthier, but it is not always the case. I think those supplements should be prescribed by a doctor, so you know for sure that you need, for example, SARMs from purerawz.co and not peptides or proteins or anything else. I have never taken them before, but I feel that I need to start to gain additional body mass.
Kombucha & yogurt are consumed I will accept no supplements.
Yes and I noticed I'm losing weight that I plateaued on before. I also noticed I'm not having as much heartburn. I use the probiotic gummies, as well as vitamins, because my dietary habits are not as nutritional as they SHOULD be
I just really like gummies and that is what keeps me from skipping, no judging lol
Yes I take a probiotic and it has helped. I did have to try several brands before I found one that worked. Friend badgers me to eat yogurt but it has too much sugar in it and I don’t like it anyway. Bleh!
There are several strains of bacteria so maybe you just had to find the one that best suited your needs before you found one that works.
I used to. I didn't see much of difference except that it helped more with digestion.
