Warning, could be TMI... I just had a flashback to the most terrifying experience of my childhood. I'm sure some will think it's silly, but when I was around 7 I was playing outside when all the sudden I started feeling a stinging on my vulva. It hurt really bad... I pulled down my panties and found a pincer bug in my panties! It was horrifying! I went inside and took off all my clothes and took a bath and was scared I'd find another. I was scared it tried to crawl into me.

Flash forward to today , at 47. I'm sitting on my bed, like lounging style on my hip with my legs bent on the bed. I feel something on my outside thigh and brush it off... I go to look at it to see what it is and its a FREAKING PINCER BUG!!! I get up and kinda freak out a little bit. I'm not wearing any undergarments and my old fear comes back! I'm swishing my dress around like a flamenco dancer, I'm looking in the mirror, brushing my skin, trying not to go ballistic! And every little thing I feel I think is a bug now. Omg, it's truly like my nightmare come true! Seriously, I've got the heebie geebies!!!!

This reminds me of a time when I lived in Chicago and it was a hot night. I was sleeping nude with no covers on, and had a futon that was just on the floor (don't judge, this was college and I had zero budget). Anyway, I felt something tickling my chest and it was a roach crawling across my chest! I don't think I slept at all that night, because every sensation was another roach or group of them crawling across me. Yeech!

Master your fear by knowledge about the bug. For me knowledge about any issue has always helped me to pass my fears or to bring it under control.

@pepperjones I understand, we are not alone on this planet. And I'm glad my cats are free of fleas. The last time it took a few weeks to get rid of them.

Sounds like an earwig. Harmless. They like dark, moist, warm places. Sorry. =0}
As a child by accident, as who would do this with intention? Rhetorical. So as a child I sat down & couldn't understand I felt this biting sensation. I sat down again without looking & felt the same biting sensation only more of it. This time I looked before sitting and the swarm of ants, well, it makes my skin crawl to this day. Decades later I have just started being able to look at anything swarming. Even looking down at rush hour traffic from a sky scraper tends to give me the heebie geebies. I love insects & ants but not so much in a swarm.

@pepperjones As a mail carrier it was always a surprise when I opened the mailbox. =0}

Ok, I don't mean to be insensitive, but I am ROFL. Only because I've had a similar experience. Except I have no vulva. I felt bugs in me for a month.

There is something about you they find irresistible. It could be worse. It could be wolverines. ☺

Im actually not sure what a pincer bug is? Unless you mean an earwig, at any rate i feel really bad for you?

@pepperjones ugh those things are just annoying, are you feeling better now?

Not TMI. Must have not read a lot of my posts. lol I have kind of a similar story, but I wouldn't call it traumatic. When I was young I moved a 300 Farmall with a grader on the back. Not knowing at the time, there was a bumble bee nest under it! I jumped off the tractor after being stung repeatedly, and ran to my dads house. They were still after me, and I remember having to thick them off my arms once stung and running! I didn't count the actual number of stings, but it was probably dozens of times. This was early Sunday morning. My parents still made me go to church!

The weird part happened a few years ago. I was hauling beans from Stanton to Lincoln. I was in Lincoln at a red light waiting to turn on Cornhusker HWY. All of a sudden I thought bee. That was a weird feeling. Honestly the strangest feeling I ever had. My windows were rolled down on my semi because my AC didn't work. I looked to my left, I saw a bee fly out the window! This really made me freak out! How did I know a bee was there? I didn't want to hold up traffic, and I was close enough to the processing plant. When I got there I calmed down. But there's more! Go grab some popcorn! I got a backhaul of corn going to Columbus. After that I went to Schuyler (where I parked my truck). Keep in mind this was about four hours later. After making a turn into Schuyler I got a weird feeling again. I thought "I just got stung". I don't know how I knew this, but I immediately checked my right side of my neck. I don't know why or how but I just used my right arm and knew exactly where to feel. Sure enough I was stung when I was in Lincoln. That was very, very weird. I never felt the sting! The best way I could describe it was a bad acid/LSD/mushroom trip (although I've done none of those). It was just really trippy.
