Type II diabetic? Take Actos? I did for years, until it stopped my breathing......after ambulance ride, during 3-day hospital stay, all 8 heart tests came back normal...can't wait for that bill!.....except with diuretics, I lost 23 (!!!) Pounds of water weight in 3 days....enough load to keep my heart from pushing air into my lungs! If I had not dialed 911 when I did, goodbye all.
There are plenty of supplementals available to your Metformin, tell your doctor to switch you now!
I was told it was a "rare side effect", yet met another person who had the exact same thing happen less than a week later....she was in her 40's, had been on Actos for years. same as me

It’s scary, having such a bad reaction!

I couldn’t take Metformin at all: ended up passed out on the floor. My glucose was so labile, they started me on Lantus insulin. That’s all I use for the diabetes and it works very well.

My mother in law is on Gliclazide and has been for many years without ill effects, you might ask about using that instead?

Thanks, , I am doing well on whatever they changed it to. Just cannot believe they are still using this stuff......in my 20-20 person karaoke group on Thursdays, I find another one who almost died from this "very rare" occurrence? Really!
