This past Monday, I went (by myself..........the best way to see a movie!) to see "Hereditary". I had the entrie theater to myself for about 10 minutes (it was a matinee) and was loving it! Ended up only being 13 people in the audience, but I digress!
So after the movie ended, I was sitting in my seat, thinking "what"??? I didn't get it! I have to admit I went to YouTube and watched interpretations of the film, and then thought, "ah, okay, I kinda get it now".
Has any film every had you thinking "what did I just see/what does this mean/what the fuck"??? Do tell!

10 Cloverfield Lane. It was going along as psychological thriller, John Goodman was a great bad guy, and then in the last ten minutes SPACE WORMS. Wtf??? What did that have to do with the entire last 90 minutes I just watched? Nothing, that's what.

I have with a few movies but those experiences are few and far between as one of my closest friends growing up eas a cinematography major who taught me to look for symbolism and how to interpret it as I'm watching, and the context of it all. Heck, one of the first we saw was Pan's Labyrinth and my goodness was it fun!

A scanner darkly. It had many layers. The ending was just one of those "wtf just happened" moments.

One movie left me with "What the F*CK the producers of that movie should have paid me for wasting my time!" It appeared the story was written by an aristocrat in a pathetic attempt to brown-nose the wealthy so she would be accepted into their fold. By far the wost movie I have ever watched. The movie was "Atlas Shrugged part II" For perspective: The only difference between someone who kisses ass and a brown-noser is DEPTH PERCEPTION. This was a brown nose story that was more then pungent.

Invariably, people say "the book is better than the movie." Before I read the book, I really wanted to go see the movie Annihilation, but I just did not like the book at all, so I skipped the movie. Has anyone seen the movie and read the book? Did you like both, the book but not the movie, movie but not the book, or didn't like either?

I thought the movie was okay. Interesting concept. Have not read the book so maybe that allowed me to have an open mind about the movie. Also a fan of Natalie Portman.

@BFD301IAFF Thanks, That is a good point.

That movie was crazy. Even the doll houses gave me the creeps. The ending was seriously insane. It was not what I expected it to be.

Can`t even remember the last time I went to a movie alone. Had taken my kids to see an animated film. a couple of years back. I use to go by my self a lot. My mom and her friend took me to see the movie flowers was not my cup of tea. They felt guilty about it so the took me out to a restaurant afterward that was more heterosexual males liking.

I LOVE going to the theater by myself! Then having a cocktail afterwards!

@AzVixen52 I quit drinking to be a responsible parent and a role model. I do have memories though.

@azzow2 I've always been a responsible drinker, so...….cocktails for me!

Oh thank you. I thought I was the only one who had trouble with that movie..phew!

It reminded me of a very obtuse version of Rosemary’s Baby. Very predictable. Hardly disturbing. I just felt sorry for the little girl.

Yeah, it has happened to me too, but what has happened more is that I go and see a movie and when it finishes I think, "that was a waste of time and money".

I rarely feel like it is a waste of time or money. Just a learning experience.

I was really disappointed in Hereditary. I thought it really went off the rails the last half hour or so.

I don't watch films nowadays. So much that comes out of Hollywood is toxic. Either violent or misogynistic.

two movies for me, Blue Velvet with Dennis Hopper and Dune.

Lynch fan... 🙂
