Anyone else work in a cannery? Years ago I went to Alaska and found a different way of life.

Such a great experience yet brutal. I made many wonderful friends.

Didn't work in one. But I happened to walk by a fish processing line. I'm sure glad someone else is doing that work. Sympathies!!

I worked in Vancouver, WA in the mid 1970's in the Delmonte cannery during late spring and summer season. It was hard work for most who were their. I worked a lot of positions there. over a few seasons. It did not pay very well. But the people and the building was great. Glad it is part of my memory of things I got to do in my life time.

I'm guessing it's a gruelling job, and that's why it's mostly young people in that screenshot; who will do it for a bit, then move on.

I worked in a cannery and I was a slimed and then a grader. My family commercial fished in Bristol Bay and had a cabin there. Long long hours but an amazing experience.

....I was a slimer.
