I flag them and admin gets rid of them.

That is all well and good but it is important to verify that they are indeed scammers and not just "I have a feeling", "that photo looks like a scammer", etc.

They're everywhere!

Since this site is growing at warp speed, there are going to be those low life hacker/scum bags sneaking onto this site thinking we are stupid. We can prove them wrong by noticing the tell tale signs each and every time. Such as: Broken English, spelling errors or broken sentences. No photos or pix you know are not real. Really bad grammar. If they ask for your email, or other means to contact you right away in the first message. Then the deal breaker is when you go to their home page, they have "religious" listed.

not everyone's first language on this site is english, hence i am prepared to tolerate "broken english". are you saying that the british, americans, aussies, etc. can't be scammers?

@walklightly Anyone can be but there are some trolls out there that can't put together sentences and usually it's obvious who the are.

@mistymoon77, i think i know what you mean, & i usually detect & repel those creeps already on their first contact attempt via message.

You really do not know for certain you are dealing with a scammer until you have some dialog with them and it will come out and be obvious in your chats.

I had a few "gentlemen" offer to pay for my trip to foreign countries if I left immediately on here

Well it is one thing for THEM to pay for your transportation and quite another when they ask you to send money for their airfare for them to come you. I would still find it highly questionable and suspect.

@jlynn37 really cause nothing sounds more suspicious and "kidnapped and sold into sex slavery" quite like free trips across europe with complete strangers

@LadyAlyxandrea Amen sister

Hey I've just met my first scammer. He swears he's american but the semantics, the way he writes is all wrong.

Yes that is a red flag, the bad English usage

Is it here on Agnostic.com?

@jlynn37 yes right here, now

@jlynn37 he's sending messages to me and thislife

@MsDemeanour Just proceed with skeptical inquiry. Nothing will happen to you by merely chatting.

The scammers I have come across are mostly from Ghana they have bad English have no tact are easily debunked have a tonton of photos from porno stars with their clothing on they are not even smart enough to use the same person in every photo. They all want to talk on Google hangouts. Have only came across one on here. I do like to mess with their heads have gotten a few to confess they are scammers. Having been to Africa helps mess with their heads even more.

I think I just got messaged by one. How do you respond?

Message was: hello,how are you doing,i love your profile and single and searching,am ready for date that will leads to relationship.will like to know you better if you don't mind

It all depends on what you want to do. It is perfectly safe for you to respond. It is just a chat and nothing can happen on the internet that you do not want to happen. You are in complete control of what you do and under no obligations to do anything with anyone. There is ALWAYS the ignore, delete and block featured to use anytime you are uncomfortable.

@thislife For me a big red flag is the age of the person messaging you.

@thislife Was it trimmer231?

@jlynn37 Thanks. I don't want to be rude to people who message me, but there are a few red flags.

@thislife "hello,how are you doing,i love your profile and single and searching,am ready for date that will leads to relationship.will like to know you better if you don't mind" This is the msg I got

@MsDemeanour Yes!

@thislife Again, you are perfectly safe on the internet as long as you do not give out any personal information, especially any financial information. That is what scammers are after .. your money. Do not be afraid to respond to people.

@thislife lol he's definintely a scammer. I keep poking him about his semantics. The pic looks llike the all american boy but he says now he's spanish lol

@thislife no joke I got this same message!!! Word for word copy paste

@LadyAlyxandrea I figured that is what he was doing, Lol.

@LadyAlyxandrea I reported him and I think we all should. I don't care that he tries it on me but there might be other vulnerable people that could be exploited.

@MsDemeanour good idea

@MsDemeanour Done.

@thislife Tell him you need his help in bringing a considerable fortune from Africa to the USA.

@nicknotes That's awesome, lol

@thislife I figured you would appreciate that approach.

now this is why i am only interested in meeting someone from my own area. We can chat and immediately go on a date. It would be hard to remain objective conducting an online affair.

it just requires a bit more caution and skepticism but it can be done.
