Star Trek or Star Wars?
I love them both. Episodes 1 and 2 put a dent into Star Wars for sure. The new ones are trying to fix that lol. Star Trek is great for the volume of material... Voyager seems to be the closest idea to the original series...single ship, out on the edges , a lot on their own like the 5 year mission idea..
I like both. However, if I had to choose, it would be STNG.
Star Wars fans made hate it's zombie like existence that & the hack behind it all.
I fell in love with SW (OT) as a kid. As a teen, i was a fan of star trek TNG, star trek movies, original series etc... I still enjoy both. I would say SW (ot) is better because of its impact on popular culture. It's just a fun fantasy...ST on the other hand is more cerebral, balancing adventure with contemplation of ethics and morality.
I was forced to watch star wars . 1978 i think. I am not a science fiction guy. Dont know why ¿? I bet you have a heart of gold. I
m …Old man take a look at yourself. I have been accused of running with the devil. And being thick as a brick. Sometimes i like to Bang a gong. So in closing, I am still searching for the Stairway to Heaven. Peace
Trek. I've seen everything trek minus the most recent movie but only saw the first 2 Wars movies. I did enjoy the first Star Wars movie at the time
I had a rough childhood and I adored how Spock was stoic no matter what happened.
He was my idol for all my childhood and much of my adulthood for that matter.
I can relate
Star Trek. I've been a fan since Sept. 1966. Star Wars has consistently redone the same story line 3 times out of 8. Death Star (IV), Death Star (VI), Death Planet (VII). Full of cute little fizzy creatures or really stupid ones. They live in a galaxy and only focus on two families. I'm guessing that the plot line in VIX will be a Death Sun with a small weakness along the side.
Star Trek - I find Star Wars plots too complicated for this old brain to follow. Besides the technology in the Star Trek shows has almost all come about. Flat screen monitors, Phasers, (tasers) sliding doors as you approach them, hand held communicators, Back then we still had phones attached to the wall.and a lot more. Now if we could just figure the transporter and warp drive, but it's coming.
I've always had a definite preference fro Star Trek over Star Wars. Str Trek just gives such a more positive vision of the future.
Yeah I know. Star Wars tkes place a long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far away and so really isn't about a future earth, but it does show a potential of how humans can develop.
Star Trek does have a lot of problems with plot and time line consistency, and the latest incarnation has moved away from the original Rodenberry vision of the future and more towards a Star Wars type of future. However, it was never conceived of as a movie saga, but rather as just a TV show. Star Trek in general runs very high in "bad science" incorporated into their scripts, but I love the idea of everyone trying to get along and cooperate. It is just generally mroe positive in the message and outlook.
Great points. I'm a Trekkie myself.
It's kitsch SciFi, I take it for what it is.
