What's the best, most meaningful, rewarding, or amazing job you've ever had?
I've been working as a freelance administrative assistant for an amazing book publicist. We have some interesting clients and I love the work we've been doing for them. One of her clients even gifted a trip for the two of us to visit her in Australia six years ago, business class airfare on Qantas from NYC and a stay in two beautiful hotels for two weeks.
Chef -- Specifically being a plant-based Vegan Chef --- I've had the opportunity to do 1000+ cooking demonstrations at Food Festivals...as well as help major corporations add vegan options to their menus. Through my work in corporate wellness, I've seen people completely reverse diabetes, lose weight, lower their cholesterol, and completely change their lives by switching to plant-based diets. Every time someone has that "aha!" moment and starts down a path to health and compassion is another check in the win column.
22 years ago when I went vegan, vegan options in supermarkets were tofu, beans, rice, and the produce aisle.
These days, vegan foods are the fastest growing segment of the grocery and restaurant industries and 6% of USA-Americans identify as either Vegan or Vegetarian.
The shift has been amazing to watch happen...and the growth in the industry is mind-boggling.
That would be my role of establishing a staff development and school improvement center for 12 rural school districts. It enabled me to listen to teachers and administrators in those districts and to observe for myself what needs and concerns were if those districts were to reach for excellence in teaching, learning, and leadership. Based on that, the job allowed me to design, create, and deliver a program of services to meet those needs. It was a true joy that gave me the energy to work 60 to 80 hour weeks, to watch the growth taking place, and feeling the joy of knowing that I played a real part in that growth.
I’m responding to a dog... I love dogs but this.... I’m fortunate to have enjoyed much of my career: a psychiatric/mental health RN and teach nursing for over 30 years
Job is a tricky one for me. I feel that a job is something you only do for the money, so I have had some really financially rewards ones that were so soul destroying. Ones I enjoyed were baking, fishing boats, farm work. Pay and hours were terrible, work was honest. Most rewarding work of my life has been parenting.
Teaching ESL to Thai children at beach side temple schools.
Flying a Huey with the air cavalry.
