The god of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous & proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully. Richard Dawkins - "The God Delusion ---I'm all verklempt now, talk amongst yourselves.
Dan Barker wrote a book by that name: "The Most Unpleasant Character in all Fiction" which goes through the Bible and under each subject "petty, unjust" etc. lists all scriptures that prove Dawkins point. For someone interested in debating Xtians this would be worth your time
Yep, does a great job on the Old Testament, then continues on into the New.
Book of Job made me say WTF? What a mean bastard this god is. Why should I believe in such a piece of crap?
It's really a wonderful piece of Jewish story telling in which you can 'draw' your own conclusions about life ect. Job is an imaginary figure of Jewish legend. The same with the Book of Daniel and the Book of Jonah. Just fascinating ancient story telling
