What are your views on abortion??
It should stay legal, and personally I have no qualms with it.
It’s a complex issue with no easy answer. Personally I feel the option should be there, within reasonable limits. What those limits should be, I’m not educated enough in biology, neurology or embryology to know. I will defer that question to those more knowledgable than I.
It is legal!
For now... but conservative groups are already planning how to get an abortion case before the new supreme court once Kennedy’s replacement is confirmed.
Legal but in some places barely available. I believe one or 2 states have just one clinic left due to conservatives blocking funding, & passing other laws that put clinics out of business. Add a 24 hour waiting period to a 600 mile trip could make it impossible to end an unwanted pregnancy for someone with very little money.

What non-religious reason would someone have against it
The primary argument against abortion was never religion. The issue is where we define the start of a human being. Once you set that mark, human rights become an issue after it. The debate is about how soon/late into the pregnancy should that mark be. Most people are in the middle with few, but vocal extremists, putting it at the start and end.
@Katrik No, the issue has always been that men think they need to be in control of what women do with their bodies. Hateful conservatives care all about saving a "baby's" life only until it really is a baby, born with some expensive medical problem or into a family that can't afford to feed themselves? They don't give a damn about babies. They just hate the idea of women having sex because it's fun & they want to.
@Carin With an issue this divisive, a strawman only hurts the argument. No one in the pro-life camp has argued that, and putting words in their mouth doesn’t help the pro-choice argument. This is not a black and white issue with a clear cut right or wrong. We stand a better chance of convincing people if we drop the emotional rhetoric and stick to logical arguments using premises based on factual evidence.
@Katrik I used to believe that facts and statistics would work, but I quickly learned people really don't care about them
Would it work if women have complete control over their bodies and men have to make sure the woman they are having sex with have the same objectives about possible reproduction? Does that make sense? If a man wants children, he better know what his partner wants.
Yeah, his "right to choose" ends after he ejaculates. Think first!
"Keep Your Rosaries OFF My Ovaries" is my favorite National Abortion Rights League button from my 20s. Wish I still had it.
POLITICIANS have NO business interfering between a woman and her doctor! NONE! But it really has NOTHING to do with "right to life," obviously, as those people couldn't care less what happens to a child AFTER it is born! No, it pure and simple MISOGYNY! Controlling "uppity" women who have the nerve to think they are the equal of MEN! Makes me sick.
Not entirely... Yes there are some people who are nuts, but the “right to life” argument isn’t necessarily invalid. Once you define something as human, it has human rights including the right to live. The issue then is at what point does the fetus become a human being? It’s not a black and white issue either, as thereis a lot of grey area in the middle.
It is a medical issue not a legal issue. Only a woman and her doctor should be involved, and it should be her choice and her choice alone whether to continue or to terminate a pregnancy.
I agree. It should be a the woman choice.
Too simplistic a question. Yes, it should be both legal and illegal.
no not simplistic and legal and illegal is not an answer. it is or it isn't and it needs to stay Legal
Legal for rape victims and illegal for sluts? That is the usual dichotomy. Is it yours?
@LionMousePudding My thought would be legal during the first trimester and illegal with only rare exceptions during the third trimester. The other possible legal/illegal dichotomy is that different states would likely make different laws if our federal Supreme Court decides to honor the 10th amendment for a change.
