That's if we were successful, and the Senate voted to convict. Right now we don't even have the votes for that. And if we were to take the Senate in 2018 and then successfully impeach, we would end up with President Pence issuing a pardon, and Trump goes scott free. Better to bide our time, run against Trump in 2020, and see him convicted for his crimes after he leaves office. With a Democrat President, Trump gets no pardon and he actually finally pays his dues.
