Birthdays are a gift, especially to your mother. Delivering a beautiful, healthy baby is every mothers dream. That being said, when you have about 50 or so birthdays, you begin to realize that the end is beginning to draw nearer, and you want them to stop. Yes they are a gift but they come with a price-the more you have, the less older family you have, and the closer you come to joining them.

When you are a five year cancer survivor it certainly is.

People have to remind me it's my birthday or it just sails on by like all the other days.

It's no accomplishment to be born. But it's nice if some people appreciate that you're born. If it's genuine and not just something they have to do, like saying please and thank you when they're neither pleased nor thankful.

My two children’s birth days, as in the days I gave birth to them are certainly special to me. I don’t think I would personally use the words sacred or gift as these imply divine benevolence.
