What's a common misconception about you?
That I am laid back, because I have an easy-going and friendly personality. In fact I can be laser-focused, tenacious. Mentally tough.
People have been underestimating me for most of my life. So many have interpreted my commitment to collaboration as weakness.
I remember doing a mediation years ago, and when talking to one of the party's lawyers he listened to me then said, "Oh, you're one of those." I couldn't help but laugh so he hung up on me. Once i got the lawyers out of the picture, though, the disputants were able to resolve their differences and walked away relatively happy. So the joke was on the lawyer since he couldn't justify any more billable hours. LLOL
The fact that I believe in free market economics, deplore political correctness and have liberal positions on social policy (pro choice, strict separation of church and state, pro gay marriage, etc.), confuses people.
I guess I look younger than I am, if I shave and have my hair shorter.
Asked often if I am related to Richard Dawkins.
Have the same last name.
That I am an elitist. I am a blue collar, high school graduate. But I have educated myself. I hold the bull by his horns. I know what I am talking about because I study or I say I do not have the answer. I am well traveled visiting 47 states, 8 countries, speak 2 languages ( not fluent but better than those who don't try) & snippets of others, & will not toot my horn as perceived as such by others. I am a woman who can handle it & do as I was imprinted by boys for the first 7 years of my life so I think like them. But I sure don't look like them & that is an assumption they that often results in errors on both of our parts.
