Our democracy no longer represents the people. Here's how we fix it | Larry Lessig | TEDxMidAtlantic
Our "democracy" never really has represented the people. The constitution was written for rich white land owners, not everyone is rich or white. It took almost 100 years to even acknowledge some people of color, others were still being killed off in massive proportions. The Electoral College ignores peoples votes and leaves the decision to random people. Money has replaced people in who is running the country.

Right, and we didn't even have popular election for senators until the 17th Amendment to the Constitution was passed in 1913. Our Founding Fathers feared mobocracy. Worse than a mobocracy, we now have a plutocracy.
