I’ve actually gotten up from the table and moved to another spot when sitting next to an open-mouth, smacking lips eater. One of my biggest peeves!! ?

A really good reason for Xanax before dinner.....
I turn the TV or the music up.

Absolutely. I have a co worker who sits about 5 feet away doing his best impression of a hog at the trough. Some people hate knitting needles in the brain. For me it's eating noises ???????

ABSOLUTELY!! I believe people should be as quiet as humanly possible when they are eating. I am really big on table manners and if Miss Manners and Emily Post would frown, trust that I would too. I would also be cringing and wanting to stab the person.

Go to your happy place!!

All the time. If it’s an adult, generally insult them and their behavior. If it’s a kid, I’ll gently correct them and say it’s rude to chew with their mouth open.

I think you should see someone about your problem before you end up in jail.

Chewing with mouth open...that kills me. I can't be at the same table...and eating does NOT need sound effects.

Also, keep your elbows off the table and learn which utensil to use....

Definitely elbows off the table. One of the horrors I discovered in moving to the south is that so many people use their thumb to push food onto their fork as opposed to a knife, as we were taught. I would even be OK with using bread. But I freaking thumb?

Yes. I have been enraged by mouth sounds for as long as I can remember. Not just chewing, but also those little smacky noises some people make when talking, or when they make that tsk sound between words.

Also, throat clearing, noisy breathing, rustling plastic bags, and typing. I curse the day people came up with audio files of that shit and decided to call it ASMR.

That tsk sound between words!! I get to a point where I have no idea what they are talking about because I’m so focused on that sound!

No one knows about this affliction. People will kill to stop the sounds. It may be eating for you. It is something else for other. Kelly Ripa suffers from it. For me it is ATVs & wind chimes. I start jumping up and down like Arlo Guthrie in Alice's Restaurant. "I wanna kill. I wanna see blood & guts I wanna kill."

That's one of mine years ago..... No, I didn't stab her but, don't feel bad about it... I wanted too ????

I spent 22 years with somebody with no table manners. Bad table manners might actually be a deal breaker for me now. LOL

I think the worst is when my mother walks up behind me chomping away at something. Disgusting. At least this won't happen anymore.

I have a problem with this too - but even worse to me are gum smackers. I absolutely cannot stand that ! I’ve been in places like movie theaters before and moved away from them.

I always wonder, if they knew they look and sound like a cow chewing their cud, if they would quit.

Yes, nothing like getting in a closed elevator to go 46 floors with some self-unaware dimwit snapping his or her gum all the way up. I am usually standing behind them giving them a death stare.

@BlueWave ah, you are my gum-smacker hating soulmate! ?

Are you guys nuts, it is life, that is what it is !

@Crimson67
I don't need points but this post is points nonsense !

No-I have my own habits lol. Drove my sister crazy at lunch yesterday.

maybe she's congested and can't breathe through her nose?

That may be. If I was congested, and could not breathe, I would eat in private. Outside or in my room. I would not subject anybody to that madness.

Haven't had the eating sound problem yet, as I virtually always eat alone, but other sounds trigger that response in me; e.g., my dog biting at an itchy spot. Usually, when it gets too annoying, I'll toss magazines at him, gently, of course. The other part of that is the constant licking (the dog, not me), that also drives me up a wall, and typically requires a foot nudging to stop.

@Crimson67 I was just thinking the same thing. They always want to sit right by me when they take a bath. I can handle it for about five minutes and then they got to go!

i hate it
