I would like to make a small comment on your gun laws if I may. When your constitution was written the only fire arms that were available were single shot, muzzle loading, black powder muscats and pistols. Do you honestly think those same wise men would have written the law the same way if they could have seen the high capacity, high velocity assault weapons that are available to the public today, by means of the bastardisation of the very law they formulated. If you do, you don't think much of your founding fathers.
I care more about kids than I care about guns. That's why I believe in the 2nd Amendment. It helps prevent a takeover of our society from a totalitarian government, and harm to millions of children (and their parents). This has happened so many times in the past. Millions of children, even used in medical experiments. Don't you care about them? Can't you learn from the past, and so help prevent this in the future?
Nobody wants kids shot up in schools. But that is a price we have to pay to help ensure that our kids will have a good world to live in for their future. I don't like having to admit that humanity needs an insurance policy like the 2nd Amendment in order to maximize happiness, but I'm afraid that it does.
Dry your tears, and have some Kleenex on hand for the next shooting. But consider that these children were sacrificed for the betterment of all the other children who will grow up in a society that possesses the ultimate check on an overbearing -- and evil -- government. Their deaths might have allowed millions or even billions to live in harmony. Their deaths were not in vain, as they died for a good and noble cause. With this, they should be referred to as heroes, and not victims. I, at least, shall honor them as such.
The concept of high-capacity repeating firearms existed during the times of The Founders (see attached image). I don't care how functional the Puckle Gun was, the idea still existed even back then, and a few decades after the Puckle Gun was invented there was an idea for repeat-fire muskets as well. Your argument is pointless and baseless. On the flip side, in regards to the First Amendment back in the 1700's there were only quill pens and paper, so how about we restrict free speech to just those and get rid of the internet and social media and computers etc? See how that works? The door swings both ways, and it cracks me up to no end whenever I hear non-Americans criticize or question US laws or our Constitution.
@billy11 I'm not comparing anything, my point was that the concept of repeating high-capacity weapons existed at the time of the Founders, but that obviously doesn't fit your narrative so you'll deflect to another point instead. Gun-free zones killed the kids you were referring to, because criminals do not obey laws. I don't lose my rights because of the actions of a few, and merely suggesting that I care more about guns than human lives is not only a crude assumption on your part, but proves you may be the one who is looney. I know someone else on here who is from Australia, and he would disagree with you on the last part of your comment, and would say most "outsiders" that you referred to are brainwashed by political propaganda. If you make a move to criticize or condemn us (us meaning Americans and our laws in this case), don't rationally expect a friendly response. We don't have a gun problem here in America, we have a people problem, but knowing that much makes some uncomfortable so they'll place the blame on inanimate objects for the ills in society, which is screwy all unto itself.
@billy11 By the way, it's no one's business what I own. You say no one needs a 30 round weapon, I say no one in government needs one either but they still have them all the same and more, which is why I have mine.
@billy11 Yeah, that's real nice, wishing death on others...
@billy11 You didn't say me, you said my kids before. Still sick wishing death on anyone.
They probably never envisioned the internet either. Should we ban speech there since the 1st want intended that way?
Your premise is just an opinion. Bearing arms has to do with liberty to protect yourself, even from government. They did have cannons and some versions of high capacity rifles so they knew exactly what they were doing!
