Im very curious as to why so many men include pictures at 20 instead of being proud of who they have become. Im interestedvin playing with ghosts of Christmas past

I can't imagine how they think it is going to be a good thing if you ever met....

My pics range from a couple months to two years ago.

"It's advertising," a man said defensively. "I got you to meet me, didn't I?"

He saw my face when he stepped out of his truck. He looked like the grandfather of the man in his pictures. Although he posted his age as 55, he admitted he was 74 (yeah, right).

"It's lying," I replied.

Studies show 80% of people post old photos and lie about their age, weight, height, profession, and/or activity level on their online dating profiles.

Here's what usually happens. I arrive early at a restaurant, dressed nicely to honor the occasion.

"Kathleen!" I hear. Turning, I recognize no one. My "hot date" has suddenly aged 10 years, gained 50 pounds and lost all his hair. As if I wouldn't notice.

Apparently they think their innate sexual heat and dazzling personality will cause me to overlook the fact that they lied. Delusional.

Well, I gotta admit that my picture is 2 years old. Also I've cut the hair and trimmed the beard substantially recently. Ok ok a new picture is in the works. Eh, how old are yours Kathleen?

wow--I would have rather met the person as they were, with the mental connection than to deal with the lying...

My captions show the date each photo was taken:

August 2016

@LiterateHiker Sorry, I did not notice the dates, too busy looking at the pictures!!

"It's advertising"? Sounds like false advertising, my picture is current. Anyone who posts pictures from 30 to 40 years ago is already telling you they have issues with themselves. The old glory days probably weren't that glorious anyway, easy to filter out the crap when reminiscing through rose colored glasses. Wish I was closer, but long distance meeting is kind of unrealistic for me. Good luck and you have a very valid point. I like your thinking and honesty.

@Tedon
Thank you for your compliment. You make a good point.

Women color their gray hair and pile on makeup. That's no less dishonest.

My pics are current but don’t mind at all if you show your story in a time line as long as some are current. Be who you are. Some don’t have any pics at all and I respect that too.

I’ve read some great bios, I really need to write something, it’s still almost blank.

I must admit that my pic is about 10 years old.... and I also admit that I do look shittier now!

I have the best pictures, this I can tell you. People are saying it. Believe me.

1

That is because they have selective vision. When they look into a mirror they don't see the fat, boldly person they have become. He, he.

Maybe ..but at least they posted a pic, eh?

2

Dang it. You caught me.

2

Should I date my pictures so you can see my progress? I post them to give information; not here to create a dating opportunity. I enjoy all the picture people post. Men , women, with pets, with kids, with musical instrument or gardens. It is all interesting to me.

This is one of those complaints that just leaves not really feeling bad for you.

1

And women never, ever, do this??

3

Because now they're bald with a huge gut and three chins. GROSS.

I guess they hope the woman won't notice when they meet. A wise woman will ask for a current selfie to be posted first.
Or get the man's name and check their facebook for appearance, proof of employment and of being actually single.

1

Some men aren't proud of what they've become so they try and stay in the past. It's kind of like a woman wearing a padded push up bra, sooner or later somebody is going to find out the truth.

2

The guys all accuse women of doing that too. I prefer to think that they really don't notice that they don't still look like that, & they're just their favorite photos of themselves.

First impressions are almost always physical appearance! To be rejected by appearance without having a chance at meeting someone and showing your actual persona , would be unfair. Nothing wrong with more makeup and your best picture ?

@bubaj50 Maybe that's why I use the baby goat picture! Who can not love a baby goat?
