Crisis totally not being addressed!!!!
You seem to be filling in some of the things unknown in 1970 by Toffler when he wrote "Future Shock." It's about changes occurring too fast for people to adapt.
If you haven't noticed our society has changed dramatically and we have not kept pace with the changes.Men and women live together openly, have children and never marry. What factories that remain are run by computers and robots with humans playing a very minor role.Religion is once again raising it's ugly head in politics , a return to that which we left Europe to correct Science is again under attack by religion preventing and hindering gains to be made in medicine and way of life.Climate deniers (a minority view) are preventing proper changes to address crisis.Robber barons with their money are influencing policy without regard for the good of the country. Those who claim to be the protectors of the Constitution (republicans) choose to interpret it in their own way. They ignore separation of church and state. They state how they are protecting personal rights but are trying to control a womans rights to her own body. They are allowing discrimination of races and sexual preferences. Finally, we have the results of globalization and it's impact on the standard of living, corporate profit and job opportunities.
Life is not going to return to the good old days.We are not going to replace computers and robots in the factory. marriage is in decline, religion must be addressed to keep it's place and not interfere in secular problems or government. We must come up with new education ,focus and direction to deal with the changing economy and methods of doing things. We need new types of work and jobs that we have not developed as of yet. More jobs in solar, wind and water to address energy needs. More jobs directed at infrastructure and the environment and conservation of water which will be in greater demand with reducing supplies. Politics must come of age . We need fare elections, compromise and a willingness to do what is right for the country and not what is necessary to maximize profit for the corporation. Politics needs revisions like term limits for Congress and the Supreme court and a revision of the benefits politicians receive that vary from the average person. The pursuit of happiness includes having a healthy life thus a healthcare program that provides the same coverage for everyone. We need to protect individual rights totally which means without interference from religion to pursue a secular way of living and the freedom to do with your body as you wish be abortion or suicide.
To accomplish these goals we need new think tanks to observe and project the future needs of the population. We need to change education to meet these new challenges with more technical schools verses the same education for all. These need to be public schools supported by taxes and not vouchers. University programs must become more precise and developed to meet specific demands in the work world. The laws ,jail and prison requires changes that reflects the changes in crime and the manner in which it is being waged. Protection for those injured should become the main focus especially with internet crimes. We need to view medicine and it's application in a new manner and make sure it is provided equally to everyone. We need to reintroduce some form of labor unions to give the worker some recourse in the workplace.
We need to become Americans again, proud to be the best at what we do and for whom we do it.
