It's really mind-boggling just how many people have it SO wrong about 45.
He's behaving EXACTLY how every other dictator has while rising to power, over the last 150 years.
They go after the press, they try to suppress voting rights and all forms of protest. They demonize everyone who says anything against them. They call for violence against their opponents.
How fucking deliberately ignorant these people are. Someone is clearly lying to you, is repeatedly caught in their lies, repeatedly exposes their own lies, and people STILL believe them.
Honestly. I do not understand how people are still supporting this guy.
There are many factors, the biggest of course is fear. Fear of job loss, others getting more than you, the race factor.
trump did not come full blown on the scene, it's been building, nurtured by big corporate and the rich.
People in this country and around the world are really starting to piss me off.
I'm with you - how do they NOT SEE this agolf twitler for who he is.
I can answer your question assuming it is not rhetorical. I went into their domain to try & understand just how they could support such an un American traitor. The answer is cult. They follow instead of thinking for themselves. Cultists follow the leader as lemmings right over the edge. Nothing matters but the leader & his edicts. The leader tells them what they want or need to hear & they follow the leader of the cult into the abyss. Facts do not matter. Feelings do. They FEEL he is correct. They agree with the leader's assessment. What I heard & learned is frightening. I am in fear for my country.
I know. I was in there a few times, too. However, to your extreme credit, you held your own.
And yes, I know they're cultists. They're every bit as bad as the believers.
In some ways, they're worse.
The blue collar worker is getting killed by him. He is attacking Social Security, unions, health insurance, working benefits and they still are supporting him?He opposes OSHA and the CDC which offer protection against work related conditions. He is raping the other 90% of the people with the wealthy tax cut. He wants to take away the protection of the Constitution and modify it so they have even more power.
blue collar workers make up a large part of his base and they are the first to pay for his madness...but, will they recognize that?
I don't either. It is scary that this is happening.
It's a combination of things...
Excellent summation.
I think you're on to something there, brother. Excellent insight. Many of his "supporters," particularly the Christian right, are also fighting for their way of life, such as it is, and cannot bear to contemplate the kind of progressive changes necessary to move society forward.
CGPGrey on YouTube has some very insightful videos about politics and elections on his channel. A lot of what I stated in point 3 about propping up dictators was derived from one of his videos on the same subject.
@Renickulous Who's guessing? Was this comment directed at me?
@Renickulous No. I'm STATING that to agree with Trump's policies when they are CLEARLY CONTRARY to your best interests is a result of cognitive dissonance. I'm STATING that to see the clear indicators of fascist propensities and NOT be able to recognize them in a historical context is due to lack of education. And to be clear, that's not a potshot at his supporters, that's a criticism of our education system and the lip service we pay it.
This is normally where I would apologize for not being clear in my assertions, but I think I was pretty clear this time and I think you're reaching...
@Renickulous And furthermore, #3 was explicitly included to reference those not covered by #s 1 and 2.
I DO my research. No assumptions were made on my end...
@Renickulous You still misunderstand me. I very much AM talking about Trump supporters as they are the topic at hand. What I'm saying is that I'm not ATTACKING Trump supporters. I don't feel the need to attack them because I don't find that it's very productive at promoting dialogue, but I will call it like I see it (isn't that what they like so much about that guy in the Oval?). Ultimately though, I don't view Trump supporters as a problem so much as I see them as a symptom of a much more systemic problem.
@Renickulous Cognitive dissonance is NOT the same as cognitively challenged. Cognitive dissonance is a psychological state that is almost intrinsic to the human condition. We ALL experience it at some point, myself included, and often more than most of us would care to admit.
Uneducated is NOT the same as stupid. My parents were uneducated (high school at best), many in my family and communities are as well, and I respect, admire, and learn from many uneducated people. Uneducated simply means lacking in formally recognized education.
I choose my words carefully and with intent and precision, so let me give you some advice: don't look for insult where there isn't any. And P.S. Allow to get just a little bit ghetto to tell you that you can take that pissy shit somewhere else dude.
