A Piece Of Me
Can I show you what that means?
All my pieces were torn apart
And thrown to the ground.
Rain came and pelted
What washed away was never found.
I laid myself down on soft grass
Picking up what I could see.
Sometimes not moving for days
Wondering if “I” would ever be.
When I could rise and walk again
I planted hard, my foot in place.
To stop the shifting of the earth
To try and set a walking pace.
You caught me singing softly
As I walked, you watched me sway.
My sound is beauty in a song
You listened to my heart today.
You were not fooled by my smile
That’s made from lie and wine.
Underneath my bold façade
Nothing here is fully mine.
How did you know?
I’d have to ask so much from you,
From anyone who dares
To try to show me love again
We both may feel, we both may care.
If you can see all that I feel
And open wide to hear
Your heart will break a thousand times.
It will be so much to bear.
So maybe we can wait until
I put the pieces back
To save you from my broken self
And everything I lack.
Beautiful. I would like to say more, but my deficient English language knowledge is not helping me.
Thanks for sharing.
I thought you were in pieces
how wrong I was
Not even for the love she wishes
Or the poor romance he cast
My retina was the one cracked
And to the world...
You are still intact
So it is me
Who may do and act
Relax angel...
Just hold on to my arm
You never been broken
You barely been scratch
Suki, did you write this? It's really good. I could say a lot more but I will not for now.
