And USA-Americans are dumb enough to think they want state run/socialized medicine. Wait until this shit happens in their family and then they will regret their stupidity.
This is the all because the tories are trying to destroy a state run/socialised medicine . It was working just fine before the greedy rich started with the austerity and trickle down economics bullshit
You sir are a fool...and I hope you remain healthy so you don't have to experience 3 million dollars of debt like my friend after his wife died from cancer.
@AnneWimsey I think it's a lady
@AnneWimsey No, I'm a responsible adult who pays monthly for adequate health insurance as well as LIFE INSURANCE. It's what adults do.
@Simon1, @SkotlandSkye the husband & wife were both steadily employed at good jobs with excellent wages, and time+1/2 overtime was a way of life for the man. After 5 re-occurrences of first ovarian and then related cancers, after 12 years, all their life insurance was cashed in, their house was remortgaged, and the 20% not covered by "excellent" health insutance was just over $3,000,000.00. Wake Up!
@AnneWimsey What do you think happens to poor people with this debt? Bankruptcy is an option. Who pays these types of bills when a single (unmarried) person dies? No one. There are other options. The first thing everyone should do is protect their assets in a family trust or through an LLC. I'm sorry for what your friends went through, but after the first re-occurrence, there were some things they could have done to prevent the financial devastation in the end. It's important that people -- couples especially -- go through all the "what if" scenarios and come up with game plans in advance. In some cases, it is even best not to marry because of aid that is available to single people -- my dad and "stepmother" are not legally married for this very reason.
@SkotlandSkye Oh, like trying to get more health insurance with a pre-existing condition before Obamacare? That is hysterically funny, Not!
They were devout Catholics with 3 young children in the home, divorce not an option. Honorable people, after her death he worked 3 jobs, at age 67, 7 days a week, to pay off the debt in full......after getting it down to "only" $900,000 by pointing out he would be long dead if they continued to dun him for the full 3 million. Honorable, good people are the ones that get screwed, and "wriggle-outers" hurt them and all of us!
@AnneWimsey You're obviously angry on their behalf. But I see so many ways they could have dealt with it better. Of course, following their stupid faith did them no favors in their decisions but that is on them, not anyone else. I'll exit now from this conversation because it's pointless to continue.
This present lot of Tories beat even Maggie Thatcher’s lot hands down for being complete bastards! They are an ugly lot of privileged prats who masquerade as the ‘caring party’! The only ones they care for are themselves and their cronies. This tragic story is only the tip of the iceberg of misery that has been the consequence of Ian Duncan Smith’s brainchild....universal credit!
Well Said.?
