How are you using Agnostic.com? Are you enjoying it? Meeting people? What's the best way to use this site? Your thoughts are appreciated!
I’m using the site to help me relax. I like browsing posts on different topics and looking at group posts. They are always entertaining. I might comment on a few, vote in the polls. I’ve met a few I’ve gotten to know well and I have private chats with them. I’m here for friends, flirts, and whatever kind of trouble I can get myself into.
I joined in January and have enjoyed the interactions with (AT LAST!) like minded people. I've learned from everyone's viewpoints and that alone has been worth it. Recently I did meet my amazing boyfriend here through a random comment on a post I'd made, and we have met once in person, and are planning for many visits (we are many miles apart, but that is okay). I never thought I could go for a long-distance relationship, but never say never. I did use it for dating and am staying for the conversations! Not enough time to stay and chat these days because of the JOB, but when I do get in here I love seeing what everyone's talking about! SO - jump in, engage, enjoy the conversations!!!
Community of like minded people. More interesting conversations than Facebook. It looks like the majority of people are using for dating.
People really are dating? Just shows I suck just as much here as the other sites. Need a new strategy it seems! Hmmm....
@Deanervin for sharing ideas its great but as far as meeting a prospective 'date' ...well that part doesn't seem to be working too well darn
@Earthling50 bummer
I came here to meet people and find that I am having a great time sharing and conversing with everyone. Not a lot of locals but I'm willing to travel a few hundred miles to meet new and interesting people in new and interesting places.
The site is a great place for idea exchanges and perspective comparisons.
It might be nice to meet some women with common interests and favorite activities, but it isn't of vital importance. Where I live, interesting and attractive women are abundant but lots of time gets wasted in mutual 'weeding' that I hope might be more easily done here. Time will tell.
Getting to the mind level is easier here for all parties. With in-person meeting, strong physical attraction can often tempt one (me anyway) to delightful but usually blind alley short cuts.
It has only been a little over six months. Contact via messaging has been a mixed bag. I seldom keep-up with it unless reciprocals happen or are particularly interesting. A few have evidenced strong undertones of CRAZY... I'm sure though that women get even more like that.
Secondarily, there are quite a few posts that inspire writing. I kind of look at this site like going to a gym for writing exercises. Those are fun all by themselves.
I'm just so happy to finally be in a place where so many other people feel the same way I do it's so new to me that I'm finding myself staying on this thing till 3 in the morning and I have to go to work the next morning but it's fascinating to read all of this different things people post
Well, this website has a bit of a learning curve.
For members who are open to dating, certain thumbnails and profiles have a heart symbol on them with a percentage. This identifies which members are open to dating, and the percent shows approximately how compatible others are with them.
You can improve your website score in general by answering all the profile questions and writing a bio, which also earns website points, and helps other members get to know you.
Commenting on posts and writing your own posts earns more points. At level two you can private message people, and at level eight you get an agnostic T-shirt.
If you want to date, the website uses profile algorithms to find member matches, so the more details one includes, the better the match.
Many people prefer to see a written profile talking about interests, hobbies, and backgrounds that can be quickly perused to find others who are compatible with them.
In case you didn't know yet, to find members near you, click on the "Browse" button at the top of the page, then on "Members," and enter your preferred search parameters.
Click on the "Discuss" button, then "Nearby" to find members near you also.
Or click on the "About" button at the top left of the page to find links to FAQ or the website tutorial.
Points are now being given to level 3+ members who chat. You can see chat rooms on the group main page or at [agnostic.com].
Thanks for all the info ... I've just learned something!
I'm not very outgoing and I these days I don't move well enough to want to look for people to meet in the flesh.
That said... I am very much enjoying interacting with the sincere, pleasant, educated, folks I've seen here. I'm embarrassed to admit it, but my biggest use for Agnostic.com is vicarious living. Lol, I guess.
its fine ive joined several interest groups from archeology to food lovers and each day read a few articles that pique my interest i like the community aspect (didnt realise it was also a dating site for a few days) i would just look around check out some group you find interesting offer any thoughts you have on the vast amounts of diverse questions/problems people post and see how you feel after couple of weeks like any site theres the occasional arse but its the internet and heres not to bad trolls are pretty quickly found out good luck
