I was listening to my 70's and 80's music and it kind of hit me in the face, like when you walk into a glass door, almost all the songs of the 19th century, with a very few exceptions, was about separation anxiety. Baby please don't go, If you leave me now, What am I going to do without your love, and the list goes on and on and on. I don't listen to modern music so, I'm just wondering. Has the 20th century evolved past the separation anxiety era or are we still crying over love gone bad?

I grew up in the 50's, it was the same. Those songs made women think they MUST have a man, no matter how crappy the man treats.them.....just be grateful you got one, girlie! And guys, they cannot have helped you be better person's. My all time detested one: Lou Christie, "2 faces have i", followed closely by the Johnny/Judy craparama from Leslie Gore. Vomiting in my mouth right now........

Some tracks outside the separation anxiety genre I hope you like them

Yes it is great to hear a good track which is not about making up or breaking up.

19th century? Don't you mean 20th?. Love all music.

I've been around music of different cultures and dance styles since childhood. There is music I can dig from before my time. Maybe music was always my religion and I just refused to be a priest (musician). Current pop I can not listen, I couldn't really listen rap and my buddy in Crete was into gangster rap. I just tune out. Unless ladies liked of course. Because we men will sacrifice for the ladies. Only 2 Puertorricans I know that will listen to country music is me and my son in his grand cherokee. My daughter managed an "industrial metal" band. It was loud, but it was music to some people and I respected that. There will always be songs about anxiety for a love lost. I always think of the sad part of the biz. The "suit" making decisions of who should be next superstar. How the individual has to dress up and change his/her image to be allowed into music heaven. LIke they say... how come rodriguez did not made it and dylan did? I still cure my depression writing. And my heart had survived enough battles to suffer any anxiety for a little rebellion. Nothing wrong with feelings and expressing them. And expressing feelings is not that unique or special skill of humans... we see it every day in our pets and any mother of every specie. I heard lobsters mate for life. There will not always be a woman in my life but there will always be a melody, that's for sure.

Sure we are. Unless you want to be perceived as a bad ass.

I once wanted to be a badass, but she said if you are a badass you won't get it.

@GipsyOfNewSpain. Hmmm.... makes you think...lol.

@BucketlistBob Easy choice. I heard badasses masturbate a lot... LOL.

I love 70s and 80s music, Guns n Roses, Metallica, Poison, Queen, Pink Floyd, David Bowie, Michael Jackson, Black Sabbath, The Who, Bruce Springsteen, ACDC, Van Halen, Aerosmith, Def Leppard... The list goes on. Better than todays nonsense. Nothing beats an 80s love rock ballard.
Is today's nonsense just about how big shortys ass is? I say bring back the 80s time music anytime!

That is a fantastic list, would make the best festival line! I've been lucky enough to see all of these bar Queen, Bowie and Micheal Jackson. strictly speaking I've seen Queen but without Freddie, so I don't think it counts. Keep rocking!

@Dav87 You are lucky, I have seen out of that list Guns n Roses, Michael Jackson and Queen with Adam Lambert. I think the 60s 70s and 80s had the best music!

I prefer the 20th century music, mostly 50's to 70's though the 80's were dark times other than the hair metal Long live David Coverdale! i find most modern chart music to be getting progressively more depressing so i'll stick with my records for now!

And you got records!!!! Nice for you. My daughters are into that now and get upset for the many I threw or gave away during my lifetime instead of hoarding. First record I ever bought. The Young Rascals... dropped and broken first time I got it out of the house. Anything you feel like doing that don't involve murder... go for it. Enjoy new experiences and have fun. Find your place outside of the box. Take good care of the records... your kids will love to have them one day.

@GipsyOfNewSpain Thanks, I treasure them, it's strange that it's trendy again, I was pretty much shunned in my youth for being such a music geek! I think I have just about everything Led Zep ever wrote, I also have a few rare ones. my most treasured is a Buddy Holly single (only recorded on one side) that was given to a British radio station in the 50's to advertise his tour, It was gifted to me and I could never part with it. I was lucky enough to see Chuck Berry and Jerry Lee Lewis live about 14 years ago, unfortunately they didn't do a signing. Don't dwell on giving any away, I'm sure you've made some people very happy!

@Dav87 Oh the memories... Blind Faith and Hendrix electric ladyland british covers. Censured in USA but able to get in Puerto Rico. Sometimes you will buy an album for its cover because you have to have that cover. Amazing times. Flash had a cover and my GF had the same panties. For those who smoke the spread double album was a must. Remember covers that will enhance your trip like Procession of the Moody Blues. Yes brother I was into rock heavily too. Treasure those albums!!!

That would be the 20th century, not the 19th century.
