"Unfortunately, that's not the case in our situation. I tried finding the right company, but it was so hard, and the pricing was awful. We couldn't afford to pay for their services for their requirements. We even thought about finding dumpster rentals Lafayette LA services. But of course, it's not the best option. I sometimes wonder how we can expect individuals or households to keep up with the recycling strategies if our national policy lacks clear rules and regulations.
Moreover, the implementation is bad. Nothing is clear about how the authorities can help you and what is to be extra paid. So there is still homework for the authorities in this case."

they pick up yard waste is that what you are talking about

I was thinking food waste, things that you can compost but that most people throw in the garbage

In south of Chicago, we had to pay a specific amount if we put out our brown bin - with whatever plants, branches, mowed grass, &.

They call it yard waste here and will accept pretty much anything compostable in Olympia/Lacey/Tumwater.

Lansing, and other area cities, collect leaves and twigs,... for a local compost company.

Yes, I live in So Cal. They pick up green waste and give it back to the community in Spring in free compost giveaways. It's a thing of beauty. ♥

In my area of California, I think "green waste" covers all of that, so yes.

Just leave the compost in a damp corner somewhrre, then spread on flower & vegetable beds each year....even a heap breaks down to a few shovelfulls in a year or less,

We just do the composing ourselves. It makes for a really healthy garden.

Yes, they gave us bins for compost about 6 months ago.

They do in San Francisco where I used to live. Here in Texas I made my own compost tumbler for all my food scraps which eventually break down and go to enrich the soil in my yard. Although some days I think I'm just enriching the weeds instead 😉

My mom has one that she used before they started the pick up.

Ditto on Seattle. However, you did not limit it to US cities. When I lived in Heidelberg Germany in the 80's they had a compost program. Everyone got a bucket and was to empty it into the yard waste bin. This was a common program in many German cities.
