I pick my battles...and when I do. It's usually with a Christian! Lol I always win! Okay ego...tone it down...too easy!
The problem when arguing with Traditional or Fundamentalist Christians is that they are arguing from a different view of reality. They can only support their arguments using other Biblical sources that support their original Biblical Point. Your rational point of view will have little effect on them because part of their belief system rewards blind faith in an largely incomprehensible deity. What I have discovered through Bible study is that their Biblical interpretation is nearly always incorrect and that if their opinion is empirically illogical, it's because they have been taught a misinterpretation of their own Holy Scripture. I can usually prove this using both Biblical and non-Biblical sources. That's when the argument really gets fun.
Nice! I like doing the same thing on random post on Facebook lol.
Hell yes!!! When I'm bored it's a great pastime! Lmao
Imust be getting mellower theese days. The only thing I want to pick a battle about is how religion is affecting our govt policies. Division of church and state-lines being blurred daily.
It was so refreshing a few months ago when I travelled to a party where my son played solo and with a band. At 54 I was the easily the eldest there. Late in the night we where sitting around fire. Subject of religion come up and most of the youngsters are atheist. This is Australia. I hope all elsewhere catch up soon
How AWESOME!!!! That bs needs to be phased out! Hopefully many any more will follow!!! Now that's a happy story!
But I have a question, are they actually atheist, or too lazy to form an opinion about religion, or anything? Another point, that I have mentioned before, those huge churches in Holland are empty; but in Europe that is also a matter of education. I believe you are wrong to think Oz is ahead of the rest of the world. They, in Europe, are so far past religion that that is a subject seldom mentioned.
I avoid religious people who are out to 'recruit'- if I get cornered, I usually get angry. That being said, my ego is big enough that it needs no enhancing; I get no thrill out of relating a story about how I belittled anyone. As the story goes, "Argue with a fool and someone may come along and not know which is which."
True enough but the one speaking fallacies would be easily recognized as the fool, except by other fools. What I occasionally get a kick out of is stumping with one sentence and then excuse myself I by no means go on and on about it. It's over fairly quickly. Which is best.
