I just had a discussion with a man claiming that he was a warlock with magical powers. So of course I questioned him and asked for proof. After following through with his logic and identifying many fallacies, he eventually proclaimed 'I know it's true, listen to me. How would you feel if someone questioned your beliefs?'
Surely how you feel about your beliefs is irrelevant, since the truth does not care what you want. And surely this kind of aggressive forcing of beliefs is exactly how religions such as Christianity initially spread.
Thoughts?
I ignore religious people of all kinds..even those from the occult. Not my job to fix them.
If they try to lecture me on their beliefs, I act bored, mumble "Um, hum..that's nice," and walk away.
Why on Earth would any sane person wish to hold a discussion with an insane one? Next!
RIIIIIIGHT! Wonder if he's related to the ''vampire'' I once knew online?
Ohferpetessake...you do realize that a portion of your One & Only precious Life has been wasted on this crapola?
I had a short back and forth with another member a few days ago regarding the belief concept. I stated something along the lines of 'as long as someone believes they have something, and believes in that something..... nothing else matters, right?' He responded with 'perception is reality,' which perfectly explains the belief concept in 3 simple words. Most people will believe in whatever they were taught to believe. It doesn't matter if it's accurate or factual....... their perception is their reality.
The good news is he didn't burn you at the stake.
