IPhone or Android? Why?
Definitely Android. iThings are overpriced, incompatible with too many things, and the OS is counterintuitive.
Also, yeah, Apple is a cult. No, thanks.
Always had been
Android because I hate apple software and products. I had a MacBook all through high school and it was CONSTANTLY in IT getting fixed. I hate that apple isn't compatible with anything but apple. I hate the fact that everyone is so blindly obsessed with it. It's ingenious marketing but it feels brainwashing. The products are easily broken. I know maybe 2 people who haven't cracked their screen within 6 months.
I've always preferred my phones to be LG because I've had really good luck with durability (I have dropped it, caseless, dozens of times on cement, rocks, down stairs, not a single crack) and enjoyed the ease of use, but I've switched to Samsung for the waterproofing.
LG phones are good! I miss my LG G2 :'(
@Spongebob I had the v20 last. I loveeeeed it. It sadly met it's end when I was filling the bath.
@LadyAlyxandrea sad! Mine was kidnapped from my workplace! I, stupidly, believed that no one steals phones and left it for charging in a public space. Damn the thief!
Cost, plus Apple seems like a cult. Absurd that people line up to pay large amounts of money for an iPhone. Never understood the draw. It's just a phone.
My personal theory is that they are the same ones who used to line up to buy the latest Windows. I used to laugh. One cult to another.
Android. More accustomed to it and better value for cost.
I'm a mac guy and have been since the 80s. But I have Android. Reasons are:
*iPhone is overpriced, lousy battery, behind in tech, and the phone calls aren't great.
*IOS is a locked box, unless you do fancy tech stuff, and I do a lot of stuff with my Android that it's either difficult, limited, or impossible to do with IOS. Chromecast is one example.
*iPhone users are like a religion. It's a cult. I don't like cults. They seemingly will pay any exorbitant price for Apple's gift from heaven. Apple has become a one trick pony since that damned iPhone came along. That's how they make their billions from this cult object. All its other products are an afterthought now. I loathe that. Well, they'd better hope people don't get sick of their one trick, that's all I can say.
I can't work any Apple products. They are completely counter intuitive to me, and way too limiting for someone that is technical.
Counterintuitive in what ways?
What a relief to hear you say that. I find apple totally non-intuitive and am sick of people telling me how easy they are to use
@JenBeberstein, it's been awhile, but every time I've attempted to use a Mac or iPhone, nothing makes sense to me. The simplest tasks seem ridiculously obscure, and the lack of control and flexibility bothered me. I realize this is likely because I grew up on PCs. I'm was a software developer for twenty years, and that did not help me one bit trying to use Apple products.
Android. They're usually less expensive and have the same great technology. Plus, when you have an iPhone, you have to use whatever it's compatible with and it's Apple based. I can use third party apps and hardware with Android. I heard that Apple is loosening up about this lately, but the phones are still more expensive.
The choice should probably be iOS or Android though.
Android all the way. I am a tinkerer by nature, and so I like to root my mobile devices to allow me to access other features the manufacturer didn't intend. IOS is a pain in the ass to achieve that same level of access.
I always had an Android and never had an iPhone so I can't compare the differences however, based on the comments here I don't think I would ever switch. Whenever I am in a mall and pass by an Apple store I've noticed two things - it's always crowded and mostly younger people. I think the word "cult" is very fitting for Apple now. Let the younger generation go into debt more by spending a fortune on iPhones.
I've never really been a fan of Apple. They do very well for graphics but they are behind in technology. All the stuff they boast about has been used in Android phones for years.
As someone who works with many cell phones in a corporate setting and deals with security, apple would be my preferred deployment. Apple is a closed environment, which is a pain in the butt but it also makes it more secure. chances of malware being put into itunes store is pretty minimal when compared to the google store. We've never had an iphone compromised but we have had androids rooted out of "I want" stupidity and compromised.
Android. I am not a thing person and view my phone as a tool. My last phone was stolen and I bought the LG I use now for $79. It works fine.
Apple is good at marketing. That is all. I stick with Samsung. I kept my S3 for nearly 6 years and only upgraded because it couldn't be updated for newer apps.
The S3 was a great phone, like a classic car.
I have both and go back and forth. Apple has always been easier to use. I already have iPads and macs, it’s nice to have all those devices connected.
Yes I have a Mac and an iPad too, but iPhone, no.
