I had recently come across some trivia about time. Can someone set this straight? The time we measure is based on the premise that the earth was flat. So what would an accurate orbed time configuration actually look like? How would time be measured and why has this not been corrected?
That is incorrect. The Ancient Greeks knew the Earth was round. Sun dials only worked during sunlight but you could track the height of the moon in hours and minutes too, but time is still based on your fixed point (speed of travel wasn’t suffice to bend that curve.) Universal Time is also relevant in that it takes into account those differences with few large countries NOT adjusting for time zone (re: China.)
I think think your time/flat earth premise may be in error
What? Greenich Mean Time is NO WAY based on the idea the Earth is flat.......nor is any other measure of time used in scientific ways, or even on my Fitbit!
..???????????

I thought time was measured in degrees , because the sun rotates around the earth .
If the sun rotated like that what would prevent other planets from crashing into it?
@azzow2 It was one of the original concepts . People thought the earth was the center of the universe . For a long time others thought the sky was a dome , over the earth , that was the flat earthers . Different cultures studied the night skies and came up with different concepts . And many connected calendars to the changes to the night skies . Priests studying the night skies , would forecast when to plant the fields . I've read that the pyramids were built on their sites facing in a certain direction , due to sky calculations . The Mayans created calendars and carved predictions in stone for an enormously long period of their future . Then , of course , there's Stonehenge and other similar sites around England , Scotland , Wales , and Ireland .
Hmmm, that's interesting. I don't think I've ever heard that. I know that time zones were invented when train travel became more common.
