I’d say everyone’s opinion is important.

LMAO....that is awesome! But as far as the situation, I would tell the other kids that not everyone believes in god. I would then sit down with the kid in private and discuss why they did it and what effect they think it had.

I teach high schoolers but would handle it the same way, I tell my students that everyone has the right to their own beliefs. If they are "getting upset" I'd explain that not everyone will think the same as you or believe the same as you. . I'd also tell the student putting up Stickers that they are wasting paper/product and since the equipment belongs to the school no one should be putting stickers on the equipment. Stickers don't belong on playground equipment. I try to be fact based and unemotional. I would do the same for a student who was putting up bible verses. They don't belong on the equipment and others can have different beliefs/ opinions.

Omg. I wouldn't know what to do. Everybody is so sensitive, offended easily, or /and against anything said, implied, or/and body language these days. Hope for not to much of a punishment from the school system.

Problem with having an open discussion is your teaching position would be challenged by all the parents who get their panties in a wad when their little robots tell them what you did and said...and you know it will get twisted...next thing you know you will be doing a rug dance with the Administration...I'm no expert but I would pull the kids apart and let them know in no uncertain terms that any kind of bullying will not be tolorated...discussions agreed would be the ideal but you know as well as anyone what the atmosphere is like right now with what the enabling of the haters by this Administration...walk softly but draw a line with the bullying...that is something you can affect...discussion...not so much....Just my opinion ... Why does everyone need to be pacified? What if it had said god is good? Same concept. Just expressing a belief (or lack thereof). I would explain it as simply as that. It's not the message that's wrong, just the place it occured.

I would like to focus on the cause not the symptom. I doubt a 2nd grade kid will develop such initiative by himself. Whoever is encouraging him likely won't be there to share the consequences......anyway, the typo is misleading things from the real issue. Using kids for indoctrination or any type of protest for whatever is not cute and it's not right. If this really happened then the problem is not the little rascal but the person pulling the strings.

I think I would explain to the kid that his posting are as wrong as the person posting bible sayings around the school. That they are there to learn how to read and write and to learn to think not what to think.

Maybe just have him take them down and explain why the playground might not be the best medium for his message.

Sounds as if the child needs attention. I view it as an opportunity to teach about various beliefs from various cultures current & throughout history. Greek, Egyptian, Amish, Puritan, Hinduism, Calvinist, Amner Indian, Bantu, Maori, & my personal favorite....Scientology
