Have you met anyone from this site?
I have met 2 people that I would consider acquaintances.
I keep hoping to make some friends and dream of romance through the site but so far no luck.
How about you?
I chatted with a lot of nice people, and on June 1 met the love of my life on this site. I had said "okay, I'm fine being alone, making friends, and being a crazy cat lady." Then.... there he was. Almost literally - the moment I stopped looking and caring - the magic happened.
This happened to me too. I was about to give up, become the crazy, in my case dog lady, and boom...there he was. My advice to people looking on this site-be patient.
Distance is the main issue...
There are about 30 people I can think of right off the bat... that I would love to meet.
5 or 6 that I would dearly love to meet for a beer or glass of wine or lunch or dinner.
There are some truly wonderful human beings on this site...but it is only distance that prevents us from embracing them as tangible friends.
I wish this community was a village somewhere..and we could talk instead of typing..but there you are...
I met the most wonderful, kind, smart, and beautiful woman with whom i am enjoying a renewed spirit. Started with coffee and cocoa.
Nice. I hope things work out for you.
@Beowulfsfriend You’re pretty cute too. ?
There just aren't many available men in my age range in my area. Sooooo, I'm just enjoying the hanging around.
I can relate to that my dear. I am always a friend.
@jlynn37 Thank you, Lynn!
The individuals here I would be most interested in meeting are either not interested in meeting anyone (ala bio info), or are too far away even if there was mutual interest. Beyond all that, I think I'm a lot to put up with.
@Akfishlady I'm also my harshest critic (I think).
Just met one, had a couple drinks and a nice chat but that was it.
Most of the people here live too far away from me. Nevertheless, maybe I'll meet someone from here, even if it's for a pint and yapping.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
I have met 2 people from this site. One was local and we became friends and would hang out from time to time and the other lived 1,555 miles away. We had a long distance relationship, hit it off romantically, met and had chemisty and now we are moving in together next week. It is possible.
Absolutely AWESOME!!! Congratulations!!
Yes! My love is 1500 miles away for now. We've spent some money on airfare for sure... but he's moving down to Florida in November.
@Akfishlady I've been on this site since March but kept it as "just friends" until July when I felt open to finding someone again and changed my status to 'open to dating' . 2 weeks later this great guy sent me the sweetest message and had done his homework on me before contacting me. He impressed me with his research, his observations, his wit and the instant connection I felt I had towards him. If they are interested in you they look back over your history of comments. Thats how to get the essence of who you are out there. Seemed to work for me. Can't wait
@poetdi56 I live in Florida, he lives in Minnesota. I'm making the move since I don't have anything to tie me here anymore and the timing was perfect. I will be sad to leave my friends and my home, but I'm excited to be with him and begin our lives together. No nerves or doubt as to if this work...we just know it. Good luck to you in November also
@boatdude87 Thank you so much
Unfortunately, no. I feel like most people around my age and live close by don't stick around on this site very long.
Agreed. Most the guys who seem interested are much older than me. Closer to my father's age. ?
Huh. But I am new as well, and I haven't really put in the effort to find someone here. This looked like more of a community than a dating site. I am still trying to learn the parameters of online dating. I feel clumsy at it.
I live in an area with very very few members of any age nearby so this has always been a community platform for me.
I am unlikely to move away although I can't rule it out completely so community it is LOL
@Lucy_Fehr
The Bringer of the Light has no need for dating! Lol! Cool username.
@KenChang Thank you- I thought it rather clever myself LOL
Only once so far. She's a nice lady who is local. Our visit was meeting for a quick lunch. She's well equipped in intellect department which I love. Our interests and outlooks have a bit of overlap but not a great deal.
I've a lot of women friends who are pleasant and who I can call for a date/event etc. Not many with shared interests at the passion level though.
Hope for this site is finding deeper friendship compatibility that might or might not go further.
Many of the women here are 'lookers' too. I'm admittedly a strange man. It takes more than a woman looking good and being willing. Sex seems to always become 'entangling' and I'd rather pass than get entangled with somebody who doesn't share other passions, mutual admiration, respect and selfless trust.
Seeing the number of ladies complaining about sex weirdos on this site is really disappointing to me. I have always thought of the atheist community as consisting of reasonably intellectual individuals who try to distance themselves from the stereotypical bullshit behavior they witness on a regular basis in society. I'm not saying that atheists can't be perverts, but I expected much more from my community. I'd love to think that most of the perverts are new members who have registered for the sole purpose of hitting on women and might not even be atheists in the first place, but that's not for me to say.
The instant 'dating' is put in the description of any site open to the public, one has offered an explicit invitation. There are weirdos everywhere, but they tend to concentrate on dating sites like sharks do near fishing fleets.
I joined for the intellectual stimulation. I just said sure to meeting women. I didn't, quite honestly, expect it to happen. It did. Quite an excellent experience for me and I believe her, also. Taking it slow, but neither of us are going anywhere without the other.
Went on one date with one person. There was nothing there.
Been talking to someone else on the phone and on line for over a month now. We're really hitting it off. Unfortunately, she lives 450 miles away, but we are making plans to meet soon. And often. Who knows, maybe a move is in my future?
Yes, I've met 5 people. None local to me. Both male and female friends. Might meet one or two more on my trip from Texas to Nevada in a few weeks. There are now more people in Nevada than when I left so maybe when I get back there some of us can get together. I'm taking a break from looking for romance right now but ultimately that's my goal.
No, but I'd like to try making friends (preferably local) here.
Even though I put down open to meeting women I think the chances of finding somebody at my age that would actually fit in with my life is probably pretty rare so I just enjoy talking with other people and if it happens it happens if not I'll be okay but on the upside here recently I've seen a couple of different people say that they found someone on this site and that it seems to be working out so you know Hope Springs Eternal
