Charity begins at home ( or it should do.)
Before Our Governments send "our money" Overseas they should help our people first.
There are so many men women and children in our own countries that are Homeless, or living below the poverty line.
Im sure that almost everybody could think of something that these funds would benefit from.
"Our Governments" --and our boundaries-- are pretty arbitrary. I feel a kinship with all of the human family, and we got nothin' on the "poverty line" of billions of people who live on $2 a day or less. I don't disagree that we should do more for those in need here -- instead of, say, giving humongous tax breaks to giant rich companies -- but as one of the richest countries in the world we have a moral obligation to relieve suffering elsewhere.
I want humanity to be united and for us to all consider this planet home and every other person to be a part of our great human tribe. Realistically, we're just not there. We do need to take care of things within our more immediate sphere before we can help people elsewhere. Unfortunate that we're so far away from that bright future with humanity united.
Charity begins at home? Do you mean home as in our Earth? "We" don't have money. It's fiat, printed from thin air. Which means, when we learn how to control inflation and we learn that there is an endless supply of the green stuff (which will all be electronic), we can print it for the benefit of all the people on the planet. There is not one excuse for ANYONE to starve in this world. There is no reason for homelessness. All the five basic necessities of life should be free, especially in light of the fact that I didn't choose to come to the Earth. My parents did for me.

Many of the countries we give aid to we have been exploiting for years. Our 'aid' is just another form of colonialism used to prop up regimes that give our leaders whatever they want.
But equally in Britain, where I am, the money that goes on overseas aid is nothing compared to the tax breaks given to the big companies. Sure people in our country should not be homeless or hungry but the reasons they are is not because we are helping people overseas. Its not an us or them situation
A few thoughts, money is not real, it is merely an unstable token of exchange, governments could give all the aid possible if they chose.
There is no food shortage in the world, just greed, though the times of real food shortages are coming. Then we will see those countries that have food, reduce their aid, eventually ceasing it all together. We are an overpopulated species, resources are not unlimited, even without greed we would eventually hit biophysical constraints. Maths.
We have plenty of money to do both. We spend far too much on the military and corporate tax giveaways.
Truth
I think we have enough money to do both, if we budget it correctly.
We (the U.S.) have to help outside the country to keep the world stabilized (which trump is not doing).
I’ve always wondered what’s accomplished sending millions or billions in aid to nations who’ll most likely ‘have more children’ ..further depleting their resources… and leading to yet another ‘environmental or humanitarian crisis.’ A lot of ‘aid’ is given to prop up governments friendly to our own, where the bulk of such aid is skimmed off by corrupt officials and used to further totalitarian regimes…
You're right..lets start by getting the Welfare Queens off the dole..you know like the Walton family, the Corporations and the 1% in this country.
