Level 7 does seem like swimming in treacle at times but you'll get to level 8 quicker than you think. It took me about 7 months from joining to get to 8 and I think that's probably average 
Look on the bright side, this post got you closer as did all the replies

I still fail to see the importance or difference it makes to how we enjoy or engage on the site the higher the points we have. Maybe I'm missing something.

Yeah, I understand there’s a free t shirt, but still....really? That’s the goal? A free t shirt? ?ok

Does it make any difference in how you conduct yourself in this forum?
I am locked in the exact 7.5 plane. This site takes many hours and I must return to caring for many other projects. I expect 8 will not be achievable this year.
