Is there such a thing as an agnostic, or atheist conservative/Republican? Can't say I've ever spoke with or met one.
There definitely is, and it is not rare at all. The issue is that they will not advertise it.
I was raised Christian, but time would prove I'm really agnostic. I get along well with Christians, and generally concur with their lifestyle guidance and moral leanings. However, I lived through wormen's lib and they made good points and agree with a woman's right to choose and other empowerments. Then I find out our own government is running 100mm/mo heroin and cocaine operation out of Mena, Arkansas while some of my friends are in multi-year jail sentences for smoking a joint. Then I saw the pictures of babies Napalmed and that finally sent me toward the left.
The big push for a minority president and unseen voices ordering scene removal and phony slant as a news editor forced me back toward the right. Then HRC, the wife of Mena Drug op Clinton, and persecution of whistle-blower Terry Reed on the Mena Airport drug operaton bent me toward the right**** in a big way****. Then the no border nonsense....Muslim push....riots in Dearborne....illegals invited, protected, released and killing citizens.....Socialism.....Asian discrimination at Harvard and other Ivy League....caravan MSM lies....ban ICE....statues toppled....No Wall .>>>> You won't catch me on that side of the road again for a long, long time.
I am a feminist first. Liberal second, atheist third
The main issue in the world is that we all started with a primitive, tribal, paternalistic social structure. Religion in each tribe was created to legitimize the existing male power structure. As we get more knowledge, we are shedding the “father knows best” and “my tribe is more important than other tribes” mind set. However those who received privilege from this primitive culture, do not want change.
Isn’t it funny that the men from the most dominant tribe in each country always resist change. But the women and minorities in each country want the society to be more inclusive.
So it is not surprising the most of white males in America still support Trump. Or the majority of Shi’ite males in Iran support their shi’ite dominated rigid religious government or majority of Brahmins in India support their center right Brahmin dominiated semi fascist Indian government.
As women in America started beating men in education and as their earning power started to rise, they finally could survive and even thrive on their own. This change in social standing allowed them to demand more political power and fight for social change.
So while 75% of non college white males still support Trump( even though they know he is a crook, a misogynist and a bigot), , 63% of college educated white females are now against Trump.
The fight is not as much between democrats and Republicans. It is more about women and minority revolt against white male control of society.
This is why we are seeing almost twice as many female candidates representing the Democratic Party. And they are running against GOP reps who are predominantly white males.
I am an atheist because I see religion as a misogynist and bigoted ideology.
I've met a lot of conservative atheists. Most go Libertarian in their ideals, but there are atheists who go full nuts with the flat earth, antivax, trump voting.
I consider myself a "centrist conservative", but apparently my political ideals make my conservative friends think I'm liberal, and my liberal friends think I'm crazy.
99% of my ideals come from the concept of Bodily Autonomy. Do what you will, harm none, take no shit.
I like that. And most of my friends think the same of me.
I'm very liberal on civil issues. Definitely pro-gun. I think we need to be more conservative on economic issues. I find it hard to deal with the far left or right. Both camps have mob mentality and use very dirty tactics to push their agendas. Wish there was a country for the rest of us.
5 years ago, I thought that "500 rounds of ammo" was a lot. Then I decided to buy a handgun and learn some stuff.
Now I've got that, a shotgun, and a varmint rifle. I now know that 1,000 for each is pretty standard.
Like anything else in life, conquering ignorance leads to understanding.
They do exist, there are a few group and individuals. I think you will find that a large amount of atheist/agnostic are Democrats for a few basic reasons. We believe in science and secularism. These are principles that the republicans deny. I lean left on social issues and more centrist on fiscal ones but never over to the dark side..lol.
This is also not an American only site, you will see viewpoints from other countries.
They usually call themselves Libertarians on here, but yes, they exist. Not all aim to antagonize, but many are incels, so they are trouble.
"many are incels, so they are trouble" Haaahahaha, man you should take that comedy act on the road.
There are some who claim to be.. Around here, they come across as single-issue paranoid antagonists. It remains impossible for me to understand how they continue to support political candidates and/ or a party who’s obvious intent is to maintain religious controls on society. I read more of a narcissistic bent from them, as in, ‘no one’s going to tell me how to live,’ than a desire to seek truth. More like a virus than a productive cell of this body...
