Last week I had a terrible scare. My Buddy pooped blood and I had him taken to the vet where he had to stay a couple of days. They did a ultrasound on him and took a biopsy and today I got the call saying it wasn't cancer. I was thankful to the vet but it still concerns me because according to the vet he had a tumor on his liver. I'm just glad that I didn't have to make that decision nobody wants to do. He's only 12 years old. Any thoughts on the better dry dog foods I should be feeding him since it seems so many are too often contaminated with something that's deadly for them?
I make my dogs food, that way I know exactly what
I'm feeding them. I follow Dr Becker's recipe.
I feed Pet Curean Go or Now Salmon, Canidae Grain Free Salmon or Bison, and Earthborn Venture Rabbit. I change their food every bag (4-6 lbs). Sometimes throw in a different fish kind.
The price is a lot (~$19-$25), but your guy looks like he’s ~7 lbs, so 6 lbs would last him about 3 weeks (my 3 are each 8 1/2 lbs, and we go through 6 lbs every 9 days or so). While it might seem expensive, they will eat less.
I’m more than willing to really go into this with you, if you want. Or suggest articles to read.
My Three Tornados. The Twins, Randy and Dariah, and Gunther. They are six years old. Dariah is allergic to chicken and corn.
ALDI sells non-GMO, grain-free "their brand" dry dog food very reasonably. I have seen my dogs become more playful & somehow "brighter" (especially the older one) since they have been on it about 3 months. And their coats look great too...i used to spend about 6× more with less results.
Ugh scary. My vet says the usual grocery store cat food is like fast food for cats.
