Trinity convept is not exclusive to Christianity, a close reading will show such a concept in many other regions of the world.

Once you throw out reality, you throw out limitations on what you can claim to have.

It’s a triple threat.. a fail safe to keep the flock in line. That’s my take on it.

I think the Gnostic conception of the Father, the Mother and the Son is more logical. Mathew states that the Holy Ghost impregnated Mary. So perhaps understanding the necessity of the Trinity, the substance of God is the necessity of understand why the Holy Ghost & not the Mother are part of the Trinity.

This has historical reasons. In the 4th century theologians debated the question if Jesus was equal to God or if he was only "godlike" or something. The whole question needed many councils to settle and after the Fourth Council of Lateran (1213) no one bothered to question the trinity anymore for whatever reason.

Who can fathom any of the Mumbo jumbo .....but I don’t really care, as I believe it’s all nonsense.

not all christianity does. catholicism does, though, and sorry, i think even catholics don't know why.
