You made yourself a target and you announced it to the world bro. There are everywhere active senior facilities and communities with all kinds of activities were to meet up. People your own age not looking for a sugar daddy. Take partnered dance lessons... There is always more female than males taking the lessons. There is a website for seniors "My Time" you need to be 50 to be in it I believe. I was told is very legit. Not judging but if you are looking for someone half your age. Male order brides from Russia and Philippines are still around, even the president got one. In other words... DON"T.

Why not try a legitimate dating site like Plenty of Fish (free) or Match.com? I would Never expect quality responses from a site that caters to bargain hunters!

When I put dating profiles online I kept getting scammers, blocking them, reporting them, until I was tired of it and deleted my accounts.
Same for Facebook except that I block and report them the moment they send me a message request.
In my case, it's usually foreign men looking for green cards.

It's not a "problem" for me, but 2 or 3 times I've had young girls, quite beautiful young women, contact me through FB appearing to be interested in developing a relationship. Just for something to do, I played along to see how far they would take it before they finally realized they weren't going to get anything out of me. At that point, they became ghosts. Also, if you looked at their FB friends page, all men, mostly older.

My understanding is that Craigslist is NOT for finding a real relationship. You might want to try a site that at least monitors its members.

These scammers are all over. They are on facebook and twitter too. I am not on those sites for friendship or dating. But they try to follow you or request being your friend. So I played along for awhile waiting for their scam and they didn't fail me, they all tried. It's like they are all reading from the same script. You don't know who your really talking to, is it a woman or a man? Whose picture is it?

Craigslist personals are known for being fertile field for scammers. What you're experiencing is quite typical. Enter at your own risk.

OK, yes, these women may be scamming you, more likely they are not women either.

No offense, but are you ... cheap or something? Craigslist for dating? Seriously? Some woman is going to kidnap you and turn you into a lampshade if you don't watch out.

Not that the other sites are that terrific but at least step up to PlentyOfFish.com -- it's still free and it's still full of idiots but it doesn't have "I don't even know how to search for love" written all over it.

Seriously though ... I met my current wife on a (now-defunct) site for general discussion where you had to be over 40. It wasn't even a dating sight. Friends first and all that sort of thing. It was the luck of the draw ... many odd aspects of both our background / experiences that we had in common and could relate to.

Your mileage may vary, but I'd invest in one of the paid sites where some effort goes into matching people based on characteristics.

Not from Craigslist, but every dating site is inundated with this type of scam. (except Agnostic.com). I have been on several dating sites for over 20 years and it has been that way since the start of the internet. Because it was so prevalent, I typed a text file and save to copy and paste in chats saying "I have one strict rule when I am on the internet. I will NEVER, under ANY circumstances, send money or gifts to ANYONE for ANY REASON". Feel free to copy and use it if you so desire.

What were you expecting from Craigslist?
