Hello Agnostics!
I’m glad to have stumbled on this site. It’s a nice addition to life in the Bible Belt. I am re-educating myself and examining my life—maybe a bit of a midlife crisis but meh & shrug.
Hope to make some new friends and I really like reading everybody’s thoughts on spirituality, logic, etc.
I am looking for secular recovery folks...any out there? ???
Not all here are agnostics. Some of us are atheists. Welcome. What are "secular recovery folks"? Are you looking for psychological support? Or something else?
Just wondering about people who are abstinent from their addiction but got there without a ‘higher power.’
@ZenJen I had an addiction once. It started when I was a Mormon. That church was absolutely no help. Their condemnation and suppression just made it worse. In fact, I think it quite likely that the church CAUSED my addiction. Upon repenting of Mormonism, I got secular counseling from a psychiatrist. That was what helped me overcome it, thirty years ago. To this day I am free of that addiction.
Nice non- judgemental feel about here ...you can speak your mind , without being shot down in flames ...as it were .
@OwlInASack
I'm sure we could make him welcome !
I have fully recovered from my religion! It feels like that all happened in another lifetime! It was a gradual process, even though I was always questioning just about everything and getting put down for it! But, those put downs would never work now, because I could care less, what others think about any religion! You should find some good company here! Welcome!
Welcome to a great community with so many varied interests
Thanks, I’m Intrigued and kinda feel like I might find my tribe here.
Welcome to the community! It's great to have you on "the other side". I left religion a number of years ago but it took me a while to change the way I thought. As religion was a major part of my life since birth, many things were a habit. It took effort to correct these things but it was worth it. It's great not to be chained down and to act and think freely. I wish you well in your journey!
