Modern feminists have gone out of their way to defend Islam, and some have even converted to Islam. We are in a bizarre time of major contradictions.
In NYC, the big news is the story of two Saudi Arabian sisters who were found duct taped together and drown in the Hudson River. At first it was thought to be a crime, but it's not starting too look like a suicide. One of the sisters said that she couldn't handle being sent back to Saudi Arabia, so they came to New York, maxed out their credit cards on hotels and foods, and then jumped into the Hudson River. I do not think there is a defense for Islam, and I wonder we're not questioning their treatment of women.
Contradiction is the language of the political left.
I was actually thinking there could be some positives from women like Sinead O'Connor converting to Islam. She basically cornered the mosque into featuring her. I've never seen a woman sing in a mosque like that, so it does put Muslim women in a more progressive light. Maybe more mosques will give more spotlight to women.
So what you are really saying is; you hope Islam will be kind to women all of a sudden. I highly doubt that even giving you, Saudi women driving cars. What could have possibly convinced Sinead to convert and follow Islam.
@MarkF Islam isn't going to change all of a sudden, but it will change over time, especially in the west if people continue to challenge it to a degree. A person like Sinead O'Connor singing in a mosque like this is, in a sense, challenging extremism of men dominating the mosque. I really don't think I have ever seen a woman in the spotlight like this in a mosque? Granted it is in Ireland.
